Hood won't pop, how can i open?

does the lever pull at all or does it seem stuck? if the lever pulls still the cable could be broken somewhere along the way.

yeah the lever still pulls and the wire is tightly attatched. Wouldn't it be loose if it was broken somewhere?

try this

pull the lever inside and at the same time have somebody press down on the hood, next to the latch

replacing an alternator... simple, remove the belt, by loosening the belt tensioners... unplug the old alternator... unbolt the old one... bolt the new alternator in place (lightly) line up the pully with the belt so that it is in direct line with the crank pully. bolt it up, and slip the belt over the alternator pully, and snug up the tensioners.
