tech wrench Ignition sticks in start position

When I start my 1990 Accord my ignition will stick in the START position leaving the starter engaged until I force it back into the ON position. If I gently turn the key to the START position (not turn it all the way, just enough to turn the starter) I'm fine, it won't stick. So the problem seems to be in the ignition cylinder or steering column. Any body have this problem or have any sugestions on how to fix this? Thanks in advance.
