okay....this thread will be added to the recommended readings list in the stickies....
here's the install diy:
-Removing the stock intake-
1. there are a few bolts and some clips that hold the black plastic filter box together. just look for all the bolts/clips and remove them.
2. remove the clamp from the black stock intake hose where it connects to the throttle body (the end of the hose where it connects to metal)
3. remove all hoses connected to the big hose.
4. the top of the filter box and hose should come right out after that.
5. if installing a short ram intake, skip steps 6-9. if installing a cold air intake, follow the next steps.
6. remove part of the fender lining in the driver's side wheel well by prying off the fasteners w/ a flathead screw driver.
7. if neccessary, remove part of the bumper so you can reach inside.
8. remove the bolts that hold the bottom part of the intake box to the car's body. there are quite a few, so be patient and feel around for all of them.
9. pull the bottom part of the box out through the top.
-Installation of aftermarket intake-
1. Don't get too excited by putting the intake together right away. leave it in separate pieces so it's a little easier to work with and you don't risk poking a hole in your filter.
2. attach the rubber connecter to the intake. fasten w/ the screw clamp. make sure to put it on the correct side (the side closest to the notch that sticks up).
3. if installing a cold air intake, do step 4 before this step (not required, but a hell of a lot easier). attach the pipe to the throttle body (remember that metal part that kinda connects to the engine?). fasten w/ another screw clamp.
4. now you can slap that filter on. screw it down tight so it doesn't come off during hard acceleration.
5. cap off any hole you left w/ vacuum plugs or attach some breathers to the holes.
6. rev engine to 6.2k rpms and enjoy the sweet sound that is your intake.
