Please Help! ECU

I recently had auto tranny problems on a 90 accord so I suspected the TCU. I disconnected the battery cable and took it out and found a burnt crater in the board. I poked around with the burnt components to consider repair. Well, I had to drive the car today and so I plugged the unit not fully assembled in without mounting the whole casing back to see if it would still drive. The car cranks now and runs at high idle or very rough idle for a few seconds and then dies when gas is applied or eventually on its own. For the love of God what happened. That is a car on loan because my lude went out. Could the ECU be damaged by just doing that? Im not getting any codes but havent tried the jumper. Is there a way to test or reset the ECU? I tried unplugging the battery for a few but it did same thing. I am going to remount the ECU and TCU and try again. Please someone help me...Im in deep here.

Ive tried resetting the ECU and then letting it idle on its own but it wont idle. Is there any way that tampering with the TCU has done something to the ECU?? Please help someone.

Okay--Thank Christ. I unplugged the battery and fuse for 20 min. I went to the store and filled a can up with supreme. I rehooked everything and ran the gas. It cranked-- I let it idle for 10 minutes and turned it off -- it recranked and runs fine! The gas was reading just above E but my back yard has a significant decline so perhaps it simply wasnt enough.

Oh, and don't forget to full it up. Running your gas on E all the time is kinda hell for the fuel filter. It got clogged on my bro's 93 lx.

and if you're w/ the stock motor and there's no Forced induction, then just run regular gas. no reason to run premium fuel.
