I have a 86 Honda Accord. My problem is out of the blue my tail lights are staying on all the time. My lights switch is off and I have checked all my fuses and they are all good. Also the light on the dash (the one that has the car and tells you when and what door is open) is on also for the tail lights. Could this be a relay issue? Has anyone seen this before?
Any help would be great...it is killing my battery. Thanks!
look at the brake pedal arm, the rubber plug that pushes on the switch is missing, lots of later Hondas use the exact same one, just go to the junkyard and pull a few
1986-2001 Honda Accord 5 speeds
1986-1991 Honda Prelude 5 speeds (not sure on the last generation Prelude as I haven't found a manual shift to confirm this)
1988-2000 Honda Civic, CRX, Del Sol 4 and 5 speeds
1998-2001 Honda CR-V manuals
Note: Civics are the easiest to get to, 1986-89 Accords get a bit dasterdly as you'll notice they are located high in the dash.
It was the brake lights and not the tail lights...duh.
And I took lostforawhile lead and checked the rubber bumper at the brake pedal switch and it was gone. I happen to have one that worked just right.
Thanks lostforawhile, you are the bom, and the others who responded.
