steering problem

i have a 98 accord lx...my problem is that its gotten harder to turn the steering wheel and when it does turn it makes a loud thunk noise then jerks into the way im turning. thought it was my steering pump but every thing seems to be fine with it. does anyone know what the prob could be?

seeming fine and being fine are two different things.
