Mods: stock but has E55 Bi-xenon projector HIDs on.
www.towerhobbies.com look there for some helios, the ones that i priced are gas powered or nitro powered. there might be some electric ones out still. im just really behind in helicopter technology in R/C model right now like 7 yrs behind lol. maybe theyre cheaper than that. but a 50 buck one wont do you good for sure.
Yeah the most expensive one there is only like 400. I like a few of the ones that are in the 200-250 range but im scared the rotors look as flimsy as the one i bought. I guess the good thing is if you buy if from a hobby shop like that one you can get replacement rotors!! What a friggin concept :eek
Anyways this is funny, if i was going to be cheap this one looks twice the quality of the pos i bought, but im still not willing to take the chance on dirt money junk. But if you look at the rear rotor there is a plastic wing to prevent rotor damage at landing
Mods: Only mod thus far is a K&N drop in filter.....

a basic one but not so awesome will run around 500+
Thats if you go gas. But if you wanna just have something to learn with there are a lot of electric helis out there that are good. I had and Aerohawk for a while and was able to get it to hover and fly around once I got the hang of it. They run about $150-$300 depending on where you get it. Ebay is your best bet for those. If you go gas you need to spend $500+ to get a good kit. But then you need the simulator to get accustomed to flying and an instructor to keep you from crashing it. Better to go electric. Check out these guys their stuff is expensive so I wouldn't get anything from them but the site is really informative.
A month ago I purchased a Esky Honeybee2 3D 6CH on Ebay for $134 plus S/H, this thing fly's really well with minor tweaks and can take a beating( i have crashed over a dozen times and everything seems ok, since my sim cord doesn't work Im learning the hard way, it came with a 3cell li-poli 1800,
1-Nimh, travel charger and home charger for both batteries 1 extra set of main blades, the sim cord that doesn't work and the decent 6 ch radio. with the li-poli I can fly for almost 25 minutes ( hover and FF only) Im not brave enough for 3d flight yet. But I highly recomend this heli for the price, heres where I purchased mine http://www.electric-scooters-motoriz...helicopter.htm

I spent $1400 on a real nice heli setup, was too stubborn to go to an instructor(since I fly planes very well) and went through learning to hover(had it attached to the ground with ropes) then got some mild flying in, then something went wrong and $1400 went down the tubes instantly, I sold the remnants for $500(motor, servors, receiver, and controller were all ok) and decided to leave the helis alone lol.
