B16 worth It?

I need some advice from you guys. I have a 99 Civic Si. I love this car, I DD It. I'm spending some money on new wheels and some spoon stuff just cosmetic.. and the N1 muffler/custom piping. I love N/A and I plan to keep it like that. my motor right now has 65000 miles on it.. now my question is should I build It to run 13's or should I just drop a b20 or GSR and start my build from their? What do you guys think.. show me some killer B16 setups..what cams work awsome on the b16.. and what do you guys recommend? :byye

B20's and B18's definetly have more potential. Thats not to say you can make power out of a B16, buy youll never make the torque of a B20VTEC.

that setup in your sig looks pretty good. I was thinking about a GSR with CTR pistons.. right now i'm selling my AEM short ram intake and getting a password JDM Carbon Fiber Intake.. and a spoon N1. what kind of custom piping should I get? I gusse 2.5 right?

Don't get a B20, it will lower your redline. The best idea is to get a GSR block, but it is hard to find just the block. Try the regional and classified forums of TI, HT, and SHO. Otherwise, getting a full B18c from Hmotorsonline or something wouldn't be that much of an upgrade, so get either a Type R or Type S motor if you are doing a full swap.

if you're dead set on sticking with the b16, with a little machining you can use an ls crank and ls rods with custom pistons. along with an 85mm bore you'd be at ~1.9L. add to that a nice topend setup and you'd have one hell of an engine. all inside a b16 block.

then again with a b18 block you can go bigger and make more power.

no I'm not getting a full swap.. that whould be gay I'm just looking for a GSR short block.. and up the compression.. maybe CTR pistons or aftermarket IONO yet.. and then bolt on my b16 head.. I'm just shooting for 185-200WHP for now... then I will upgrade the valve train and get better cams..

You dont want CTR pistons. CTR pistons yeild about a 12.5:1 compression ratio. Thats too high. Go with ITR or B16 pistons. Im using USDM B16 pistons and a head milled .01" and my CR is 11.8:1
