Probably. The only advantages that the c5 has over the c1 is the port and polish, bigger cams, and the higher compression. With an all motor build, the head will be ported, the cams and valvetrain replaced, and youll most likely put in some high compression pistons. From there, the GSR head is a better platform (if youre going to be building it), because it yeilds a smaller combustion chamber, and higher compression than the c5 does.
If I had $4000 to spend on an all motor setup, i would start with a B18C1. It has close to the same potential as the c5, and is way cheaper to start out with.
