b18c1 question

If you take two motors a b18c1 and a b18c5, and do an all motor build with the same parts on both, are you going to see similar results in hp and torque numbers?

Probably. The only advantages that the c5 has over the c1 is the port and polish, bigger cams, and the higher compression. With an all motor build, the head will be ported, the cams and valvetrain replaced, and youll most likely put in some high compression pistons. From there, the GSR head is a better platform (if youre going to be building it), because it yeilds a smaller combustion chamber, and higher compression than the c5 does.

If I had $4000 to spend on an all motor setup, i would start with a B18C1. It has close to the same potential as the c5, and is way cheaper to start out with.

id go w/ the b18c1.....cheaper and just as easily modded.... type r trannys are fun though

A b18c1 is a cheaper platform to start with. Plus, like stated above, you'll end end doing the same thing to both motors in the end of it all.

The only advantage i can see to having is c5 is being able to say "I got a B18C5, yo."

Other than that...

ITR trannys are fun, but its cheaper and just as effective to put in the ITR LSD and final drive in the GSR tranny.
