tech wrench Much love

well.

i've been conversing with a fellow tuner.
will possibly be purchasing a new d17a2 engine.. (yes sticking to what came in the car.. all you haters can take your best shot lol)
I'm going to build this head and block, til it's time to drop it in.

also looking at apexi VAFCII and A2 computer.

again, i will reinforce my opinion on the sleeper effect.
pop the hood.. pshooter engine. I/h/E.. maijor internal work.

so what if i'm still under 200 whp.
no track time for me anyhow lol.

but i bet my stripped down civic will still embarrass alot of the heavy ass v6's around town with their APc wings and goodies

FYI AEM CAI is on..
engine sounds much happier

til then

P

if you want to get alot of hp out of your d17a2 go to a good shop and have them give you a bid to rebuild your engine and boost it... (rebuild to handle more boost) i recently had mine done and went from 150hp to 487whp big increase.. yet cost me around 8 grand for everything 4500 to rebuild engine. and 3500 for turbo and custom intercooler. it rips like nothing else but costs alot..... go to a shop and have them recomend some upgrades for you...

8 grand...? i think you got ripped. but sounds about right if you payed someone else to do everything for you.

and this thread is going on 2 years old. i doubt the OP even has the car anymore, nor did anything than minor boltons. and he specified NA, which he will never get 200whp on any D series. especially d17a. that engine is balls.

I have a D17A2 engine in my 02 civic. And it was dynoed 153 with the headers, test pipe, high end muffler, (2.5 in back), cai, crower cam, aem gear, some generic rockers, valve springs, and piston rings (because they were worn) and an exedy flywheel and clutch. Nothing too special. Alot of money for such little horse power. The only way youll really see anyhthing out of this engine is if you boost it.

What kind of rockers did you use? I wasnt aware that there were any non-stock rockers out there for the D17, D16 yes, but not D17. Part numbers, brand, and links apprechiated!
