Which engine is better for NA build?

I was wondering which engine's better for a NA build. The B16A (SiR) or B18C (GSR)? I'm trying to get a full blown NA car, I'm looking for something with a power to it and can all fit into a '89 Civic engine bay with a OEM carbon fiber hood.

b18c seems like a better platform to start out with.

Both are great, engines..but it depends on the money to spend on which plateform to start out with..b16's are goin to tend to make power higher up, the b18c can rev just as high as the b16 but remember its a smaller liter, and that could show a bigger difference..a b18, also has the ablitiy to be stroked to a 2.0..so it just depends on the money, how high u wanna rev, and what your looking to actually do..200-230whp all motor startwith a b18c.

more displacement is always better, especially when it can still rev high

Well I looked again. It's a B18C5, the Type-R motor. I'm looking to build this up to aroung 300hp all motor. If its possible to score higher, that's my goal. In the end, still deciding whether to go with a turbo or keep it NA. Probably will throw on the turbo when I get a new daily driver. Until then it's all natural. Is the B18C5 a good swap and is it possible to get 300hp with this engine?

i'm right around 210-220whp all motor, on the gas i'm sure i passed 300whp, still on a STOCK block ...its possible with a gsr motor too, its a combo of good parts / tuning..the head and tuning will play a HUGE part in a 300whp all motor build..but to get there right, you will need to go into the block if you dont plan on spraying nitrous.

Well money's no issue. Nitrous is one thing I don't want to use. I am however wanting to go into the engine to do this though. As I said, roughly 300. 250 more realistically. Oh, and not sure if this helps, but there won't be a catylatic convertor. No emissions in Kentucky, hells yeah, so it's going to be a straight pipe.

My b18c1 is at 200whp. To me, anything more then 220whp on a b series motor is going to be hard to be streetable. Even though i am a b series guy, i do have to say, i've been really impressed with the k series motors.

You said money isn't a issue, then go with a k series motor. More expensive of a swap, but, you less money into the motor to get thte bigger n/a numbers.

K-series can do 300whp..it's not easy but I've seen dynos of a k24 with ITR head and some crazy cams making 302whp. must find somewhere though

Yeah, I've decided to go the K series route. The K24 with the K20 head. Anyone know where I'd go to look for parts for this? Should I look into K20 parts or K24?

I don't think you can fit a k24 in that engine bay.

I don't know either. I've never seen a K24 up close and personal. I've only seen them in pics. How big is the K24?

If money isnt an issue go with k series build.

but if id start with a bseries, start with a gsr..boo to the b16..unless you stroke it, which i wouldnt recommend stroking and b series for that matter.
