Its an INCREDIBLY huge bitch to tune.

So much so that it makes it not worthwhile on a street driven car.

Generally speaking, ITB's will always make better low end than a manifold/TB setup, assuming theyre not rediculously huge on a rediculously small engine.

properly sized itb's to match the displacement of the engine and correct manifold design will make nice power throughout the powerband. it's not as simple as saying "goodbye low end" or "you'll pick up tons on the topend".

which is why i like jenvey itb's over the more common twm's. they have seperate manifold designs for pr3 and p72 heads. twm's were designed on p72 heads and use a one size fits all manifold runner design. also with the jenvey's you can mix and match different size tb's and stacks to achieve the powerband you want.

filters and airboxes are also available so filtration is not an issue. if peak power is what you're after, a manifold and single tb would do you better. if you're looking for a broader powerband, itb's may be for you, but know what you're getting yourself into first as they are far from drop in and go.

How about someone who "has" the itbs on his R chime in..

I just got my set of 50mm twm's on, and running..to be honest..took an hour to overall tune them.. working on the nicknacks was the harder part..
Tps rewiring, and the spring setup on itbs in gerenal will be different and need to be adjusted..
Now i haven't "Fully" tuned the car out, just fuel wise so i can drive it and beat on it alittle..i'm still waiting for some other things to come in before i start goin to 10k.. but the whole power situation itbs are there for the high end and throttle response u get.. You dont really lose any low end, infact i accelerate a hell of alot faster then i ever did, from a low roll..its quite retarded too..
I fine these itbs idle fine.. i'll even do a video..my car idles at 800rpms..no problems.. yes i'm a pretty good tuner as well , fact remains u gotta know what your doing.. i feel a huge increase in power..even making runs w/o vtec the car pulled insane until 8 k, on low cam.. with vtec on it wanted to pull past 9500rpms..which was stupid fast..and it got there quick.. in a blink of an eye my rpms would gain 3500rpms in seconds...their worth it, IF you know what your doing..

Personally the only time I'll ever install ITBs is when my car becomes track only. Not drag but road. If you have the time to get them dialed in and have properly sized ITBs you can make power across the board.

I've got a 98 jdm itr (210 crankHP) swap in my teg with good aftermarket header, intake, cat, catback with no check engine light and still able to pass CO emissions (barely). If tuned right how much gain do u think i'd make with the right ITB?

you wont gain as much power as u could with big cams, ported head and etc etc.. but you will increase Throttle response by alot and yes power will go up..but dont expect it to make u shit your pants..raise the compression, bigger cams, biggerexhaust, good tuning and then ya, u might drop a load.. stock blocks wont cut it unless u raise the compression / raise cyl pressure.
