tech wrench JDM D16Y8 vs USDM D17A2

I a comparing specs between the engine(s) above.

My 2k1 civic has a D17a2....

Will a D16Y8 fit in this car (I am thinking it probably will...)
and also.. What is available for the D16Y8 that is NOT available for the D17A2.

I am sticking to ALL Motor and D series...
but since I will be buying an engine to swap out, I want to maintain a reasonable budget, and want reliable and reasonable internal components such as cams, rods, pistons, valvesprings etc...

I guess what I am wanting to know if I were to build a N/A Engine to swap out.
Would a D16Y8 be better than USDM D17A2 ?

Thanks much

IMO, the y8 is a better motor, but not better enough to justify removing a d17a2 for one...

tech wrench Ok./

Ar there any parts (such as intake manifold that are interchangable?

A peer had advised me to DIY a Venom intake manifold on it...
I would rather just hone out a Honda one personally.
Keep it looking fairly plain and simple

yes it can be done, I have seen other posts out there where guys have done it, but it is kinda complicated, you have to change your ignition control (I think, it has something to do with you changing some control), also you have to change fuel rail and injectors to the old style. O yea, also it is really only kick ass if you boost, not much difference if you run N/A

You'll loose power with a venom manifold. To overkill. The intake mani in my sig is an example of N/A overkill LOL. I've got a skunk 2 now and it works great.
