Actually it isn't. The iVTEC in the sohc is not at all like the iVTEC on the dohc k20's. The iVTEC is "Intelligent-VTEC" that switches to the larger lobe only when it detects that there is enough load on the motor. This iVTEC implementation is a lot like VTEC-E that was on the civic hx/vx. |

Your right about that but..
its still an iVTEC eitherway?
ok...it doesnt have the aggressive cam profile like the k20 has, but the r18a1 still have a "high output cam" lobe which still has to be activated via the vtec solonoids does it not?
