Question LS/VETC with CTR pistons problems Motor turns then stops.

LS/VETC with CTR pistons problems Motor turns then stops.
k heres the deal i am building an ls vtec setup for my
B18b1 ls block
ctr pistons
p72 gsr rods
gsr head

I installed the pistons and rods fine engine spins great , when head installed motor spins then stops ( and i mean stops cannot turn) it seems as if the pistons 1 & 3 are hitting the head then when you spin it pistons 2&4 hits causing it to stop again.
Can anyone tell me if this setup can work or do I need to install ITR/GSR pistons. ALso any combiantions that would work with the ctr piston would help or any fixes . i have heard of using a thiker head gasket or doublibg up hg to get more clearance

before you put it together u should have measured deck clearnace that would have told you if it was gunna work or not, did u time it correctly?

Yes check your clearnace make sure it's right also check your timing make sure it is right an check make sure u have plug wir'e in right place cause if u have your wire's wrong it will shut down when u give it gas.

pistons/rods

sounds like the pistons are to tall or possibly rods are to long, it doesnt take much for this to happen, whoever you got the kit from should have known what motor you where building and what you needed to complete the setup correctly, doubling up the gaskets will not help just cause to much bs,get ahold of the people you got the pistons from and talk to them and make sure they sent you the right shit for the motor, timing could be the issue to make sur #1 is tdc and both cam arrows are pointed straight up and also make sure came loubs are facing one another on each end of the cam ,ive heard of people taking off cam gears and not installing them back where they go(dont know if thats a possibilty with you or not)also dont think gsr rods are the same length as ls rods but i could be wrong.

which crankshaft are you using? if you are using the ls crank than you shouldnt be using the gsr rods because they are longer than the ls ones. gsr crank shafts have a smaller throw than ls's so they need longer rods because both b18b and b18c decks are the same height. even b20 are the same height. you need to use ls rods.

thanks for the hints guys.Well I was trying to build an ls/vtec with ctr pistons to make more power than a reg l/s v. The setup is:
b18b block
gsr head 350
stock head gasket
gsr rods + typer r oil pump 100
ctr pistons 80
I actually didn't buy this from anyone saying that this set up would work . shopped around and found some deals.
Yes found out the hard way that the ls crank and the gsr crank are diff. i could feel the pistons touching when I turned the crank with no cams so no valve inteference. So all i did was to double the hg, spins great. however i might have a problemo with really high compression . Motor is in will start it tomorow and see whats up.

goodluck, hope you dont bend any valves. should just replace the rods like i mentioned.

also, check the timing, maybe it's off? or swap ECUs out to a stock one perhaps.

Just swap for shorter ls rods and itll solve your problem.

you should clay the piston to see if it the valve that is hitting...

WOW you know your C/R on that set-up would be 16:48.1 DUDE that thing is a piece of junk and do you know your Piston-to-Deck Height is -0.061 WOW i mean NEGATIVE.....
