type-r Is my LS/V-Tech Salvageable?? ITR(Head)/LS(Block) w/ITR Pistons

I traded my computer for my brothers LS/V-Tech that he took out of the car he crashed a while ago. It is a complete ITR head, LS block, crank, rods, and ITR pistons. I believe that the pistons where shaved a little to fit the rod stroke. I am looking to put it in a EG hatch, but before i do im wondering if i should just complete the full B18C5 or is this LS/V-Tech salvageable?? I looked through the forums and people seem to think a LS/V-Tech w/ a ITR head is a waste. I'm not sure why. If i could get any opinions on some good builds for this motor or if i should just go the B18C5 route that would be awsome. Also if i can Get opinions on a Tranny. I was thinking B16 just because it has shorter gears and seems fun to drive, but i am open to GSR also.

Also I am currenly deployed in Afghanistan so money i'snt really an issue.
