For my setup ls tranny or gsr?
ok guys this is the deal, I have an ls tranny on my ls/vtec setup and is in perfect condition, now a friend of mine has a boosted integra and he wants to trade a 2001 gsr tranny for my ls + $50, now I know the gear ration on the gsr is shorter than the ls, but is it really worth it to do the work?? what do u guys think? here is my mod list
is on a 94 DC-2
B16 head
Skunk 2 stage 2 cams
CTR over sized pistons
Cometic Head G.
ARP head st.
ARP main st.
Dc headers 4-1
Type R intake manifold
Skunk 2 cams gears
Stage 2 clutch
10 pounds Flywheel
AEM CAI
A/C and PS
By the way i have a problem that the car losses power before Vtec, I have not tunned yet might that be the problem?? also tell me what u guys think about my setup!!

I agree. For any all motor setup, the GSR tranny is SUPERIOR. TAKE THAT DEAL NOW!
He wants your LS tranny because of the longer gears and he thinks it will help keep him in boost more. In reality, it doesnt make much difference for a boosted car. People will argue which tranny to use for years to come. It still doesnt make a difference.
Since youll have both trannys out, and youre MAKING money on the deal- it might not be a bad idea to have an LSD installed, if you have some extra cash flow.

A B18B with a GSR tranny is faster than a B16 in a G3 chassis. Your LSVTEC would SPANK a B16 swapped G3. B16's dont have enough torque to really move a G3. Get the GSR tranny. Trust me- youll like it.
If you do a lot of highway driving, your gas milage will get a bit worse, since its more revved out at any given speed. Cruisin at 80mph, youre practically in VTEC in 5th gear.
Ps, I got your rep outta the red for ya. haha

Yeah grab that deal up quick! I got a similar deal, straight trade my LS trans for a couple broke GSR's that I built one good one from. Because the GSR is more valuable you have a better chance of trading it for a B16 trans, or selling it for what you need to buy one. I've seen GSR trannies fetch $600+ but rarely seen an LS trans get over $400 or so.
Even if you keep it you'll be alot happier...1st & 2nd gear are the same as the LS but they reach the top a bit quicker becuase of the 4.4 final drive. Then you will get more pull from 3-5 since they are all shorter than the LS. I have a EK hatch and I sit right around 4000rpm @ 80mph.

throttle position has more of an affect on gas mileage than rpm's. and vtec wont engage at it's normal point if you're driving at part throttle.

Haha, yeah I know. I was just showing that he'd be at high RPM at a higher speed.
Throttle position does affect gas mileage more than rpms, but it is common knowledge that the LS tranny gives better gas mileage than the same motor with a GSR tranny.
Plus you can always do the LS 5th mod.

I mean its ok, cause my car with those pistons is like not really that reliable, but any ways i did the trade and i told him to give me one day to make sure the tranny was in good condition, i might put it this weekend, now im still doing the brake in, cant wait till i tunned to see how is running, mean while i have an intgegra gsr with I/H/E and Intake mani. and a '01 mustang with I/H/E waitting for me to race me, come on guys chear me up!!! what are my chances!!??

Youre chances are decent. Mustang GT's are slow. A stock LT1 will beat one.
Im hoping to beat my friends 94 LT1 that ran a 13.8.

sounds like good deal. however, before you run away with the gsr tranny make sure it goes smoothly into gear at high rpm and that there's nothing else wrong with it.
