Need an engine builder.....

Hello Im new to this site. Im looking for a reputable engine builder to take on the task of building a spec engine For my desert racing buggy. Here are the Specs for the class I race in

A. It is a design that has been series produced in quantities of 5000 units or more and is readily available to the general public in the U.S.A.

B. It did not displace more than 2000 cc in the stock form.

C. It retains a maximum of four valves per cylinder.

1650cc – 16 valve
Single two-barrel carburetor or stock fuel injection with max throttle body of 58.5cm

G) Fuel injection is stock production with the following restrictions:
1. Intake manifold will remain as delivered by the manufacturer. It must retain it’s stock shape, size, and configuration. No porting or other modifications. Ports may be matched to the heads, but matching may not exceed .250” (1/4 inch) deep. Manifold must be the unit that was installed and delivered on the engine by the original manufacturer. Only U.S.A. delivery fuel injection is permitted. Manifold must be installed and sold on production vehicles for street use in the U.S.A. and be readily available to the general public.
2. Throttle body must be production (OEM) type readily available to the general public in the U.S.A.

Im not an engine builder but I have basic knowledge from my expirence with VW type I engines. It seems that the commen way to achevieve this engine is to take a B16 and bore it to 1650cc. I have received dyno sheets that indiacate this engine will produce 190hp and 130lbs-ft of torque.

Now for a couple of questions to any of the Gurus that are out there.

Is it possible to start with a F20C engine, Keep the longer stroke and sleeve the block down to acheive 1650cc? In doing so will the torque be great than that of the B16 bored out? How about the HP?

Here is the vehicle that I race

And some Video. May be loud so turn speakers down.

Thanks for the Help.

Since you appear to have a completely custom application, I'd recommend taking a look at a k20 motor. Motor has 1998cc displacement in stock form. Look into the k20a2.

Its TB is larger than 58mm... Can you run a restrictor? Problem is even the b-series came with 60mm throttle bodies, so that could be a problem. Can you make an adapter plate and use a bored d16 throttle body (came with 56mm opening)?

We've built 200hp B16's (stock bore and stroke) but the fuel injection system is all aftermarket... when the rules say factory; does this mean oem injector size and unmodified ecu?

Are you limited on head work, cams, header, rods, pistons (comp ratio)? What type of fuel do you have access too?

Thanks for the response. The injector size is not specified in the rules so I am assuming that it is open. ECU is open. Most seem to use Motec. Cams headers, pistons, and rods are open. For the headwork there is a clause stating that the intake port can be matched to the head. Im about 99% sure that the ports must remain stock. For fuel I run VP c12 and F&L SP3.

k24 bottom end with a k20 head... Something tells me youre gonna want some torque and a b16 is not where its at. Are you trying to keep the displacement at 1650cc because your weight is displacement based?
