Cool motor info needed

Hey,
I am looking to buy a Honda, but I want to know the best bang for the buck. I want performance, which I think Honda is the cheapest way to go. Also reliabilty is key as well. What are the hot motors to look for, NA perferably, problems to avoid and so on. Thanks a bunch.
knoc.

best bang for your buck i'd say would be to go w/ a b18 and piece together a turbo setup. if you want to stay n/a, h22 is a really nice motor... k-series is becoming more and more popular, but still pretty pricey.

a n/a build will usually cost you more in the long run to achieve the same power as a turbo.

what are your goals? just looking for something fun for the street, or an all-out drag car? also, what chassis are you looking for?

Just looking for a quick car on street, something to hold me over for about 2 to 4 years. Then its time for somethign really nasty. I really don't want to spend alot of money, and I don't plan on dragging the car, or I would buy a fox body mustang and call it a day. I just know that the aftermarket for Honda's is huge. How is the reliabilty for turbos as a daily driver, which is what it will be. Whats the difference between the motors you suggested.
Thanks,
knoc

Turbo motors are reliable, IF AND ONLY IF theyre done right. A good tune is PARAMOUNT. FMU's will not cut it. You can buy a mid 90's integra for around 3-4000 bucks, and turbo it for another $2000 or so. That should give you around 180-240whp, depending on the setup- which should be good for a high 13 second 1/4 mile pass if you can get traction.

My all motor B18C1 is making 185whp, and I spent around $5000 on JUST the motor. Your call.

It depends. I can't do my own work, so I need it done already most likely. My budget will be max around $10,000 before I sell may car, then ad another 3k. Simply put I am looking for the most bang for the buck in performance and reliabilty.
