phantom grip is not lsd ...its a LOCKER.....lsd consists of GEARS and lubrication and shit...a locker just LOCKS your axles together....

now, with that said. i would put a locker on any motor as long as teh motor isnt like FULLY built or pushin some crzy amount of boost. i would put a locker on. ..they say lockers will cause u damagae things...casuin u more money in the long wrong. i have never seen proof, i know a car rite now turbo gsr runnin with a locker. no problems, but thats not to say, i dont talk shit to dat dood bout it. if i was runnin hard like that i get quaife. i would a locker if i had some mediocre shit and if n e happens it wouldnt hurt me to get another one....i wouldnt take my chances witha locker on a built motor.

now that i see what u are saying i ve seen these on jeeps and stuff,i do have a built motor but i dont think that this will hurt it more than a stock engine, maybe it would be hard on the clutch though?

well, like i was sayin, i friend of mine got a turbo gsr....running a locker, and he puts lockers on anything and never has a problem. i STILL argue his stnakin ass, but he has actual prove backin him up. i dont, i just got logic. or at least wat i think is logic. the locker is makin the tranny axles or watever, do somethin its not naturally doin, add some power and u might get some bad results...so me personally, i woulndt want to find out. itr or quaife for me. but you are more than welcome to try and find out. and if ever u run into problems, post.

I know someone who had one on his boosted GSR. He had nothing but good things to say about it.

The Phantom Grip IS NOT A LOCKER!!!! Have you seen one?

http://www.phantomgrip.com/products.htm

The reason it doesn't cost much is that there isn't much to it, as you can see from the pics. It's a couple of spring-loaded plates you slip into the center of your stock diff. When turning corners or whatever it will slip so you don't cause damage. You can get different spring rates that give you more straight line traction but don't let go as easily going through corners.

I had one that I got a good deal on in my D-series, it worked OK. If you are paying $250 or more I would suggest at least a used ITR diff or an OBX. Sure Quaiffe is the best, but if you're hunting in the P.G. price range you might not be looking to spend $850-ish.
