I have a Gude head package on the way and I'm thinking about installing it myself, Ive always done all of my work but nothing more than bolt-ons and suspension etc. this will be the first time opening an engine up and dealing with cams and the head gasket finding TDC and all that stuff, I was wondering if I should bother or just spend the $550 to get it done professionally, Im confident I can figure it out eventually but I dont want to be without my car for two weeks, I'm really going to need help on this one.
is there any special tools I need to pick up? andy suggestions will be appreciated. thanks -Brian W
what kind of motor.........ive heard alot of horror stories about gude cams for b series motors...besides that theres not much to it that is real hard, if youre doing valvetrain yourself youll need some specialty tools....nothing you cant handle though im sure

quickest and easiest way to install a valvetrain, no shit, is to remove the head. took me just about a day to remove the head, clean it, put the valves/valvesprings and retainers in, and put the head back on..i always suggest if ur changing cams, go ahead get your head sent off to a local head shop for a hot tanking and resurface, so u can make sure your clearences are fresh and besides..everyone likes the look of clean parts
autozone sells valvespring kit thingys for like 40 bucks.

its already resurfaced etc. and it has reground cams, Im going to have to install the cams valve springs and retainers myself, and I dont know what else.
also will I be able to tell how to line up the cams by just looking at them?

you line up the cams by lining up the cam gears and the oil pump.
put Cylinder #1 to TDC align the gears and align the oil pump.
