Where do I start if I want an NA B18C1?
hey guys, I have a 99 integra GSR with a B18C1 motor in it. I want to build the motor. (I'm trying to stay away fom boost). I don't want to make HUGE power but i want to be somewhere between 250-300 hp. Right now all i have are:
Cat-back Exhaust
Cold Air Intake
AEM Tru-Power Pulleys
Skunk2 Intake Manifold
Competition Clutch Stage 2 Clutch Kit
Competition Clutch Ultralight Flywheel
What do I buy next? I would like a list of the next 5-10 parts i should get (in order) Thanks!
1. ?
2. ?
3. ?
4. ?
5. ?

stroke, bore, compression, cams, custom header, tuning
and about 10-12k.
250-300 hp IS huge power for a motor that starts off around 160-170.

To hit 250 hp is hard work and alot of money. I put alot of money into my b18c1, and i barly cracked 200whp, which is roughly 230 hp all together if i remeber correctly.
But, here is a list of what i have done to my engine so far:
95 B18C1 block
98 GSR head
Port and polished head
Crower everything in the head, including 402 crower cams, minus valves(stock GSR valves)
Skunk 2 adjustable cam gears
Skunk 2 Intake manifold
RBX-R cone filter
R/C 320CC injectors
B/M fuel pressure regulator (gauge is not working right)
full MSD ingnition set up (blaster coild, modual, wires and rotor)
JE 11.5/1 forged pistons
APR bolts
High flow fuel pump
Fludydine (can't spell) radiator
JDM Type R header
P28 computer with Mugen fuel curves
APEX Vtec controller
2.25 inch exhaust with a HKS knockoff muffler
HKS highflow cat
b16 tranny with quafe LSD
And when it did hit 200 whp, it wouldn't hold an idle.

Well I have seen 400whp GSR's with turbo, cams, cam gears, valvesprings, retainers, injectors, intake mani, header, intake, exhaust, and ecu. ("Project Sleeper" -Project Car Magazine)
So if i do those six things, what kind of power would i be looking at?

Your talking about turbos there. This is a N/A section. You can make any kind of power with a turbo. Just matters how much you crank up the boost, and if your engine can handle it.

so your saying that its easier, cheaper, and better to put a turbo into my GSR than to build the motor?

you read too many magazines. that's impossible on a street car? 220whp is pretty much the limit with a b18c1. it's only a 1.8 liter. it wouldn't be any fun to drive on the street. your powerband would be lame for anything but a track. get a k20 if you wann pull numbers like that

duh! n/a 4cylinders hit their limits early. it's not a v8 man. if you want high power and streetability you have to boost. it's cheaper easier and more reliable to make 300whp with boost than trying strain 300n/a whp out of it.

And if you do want N/A 300hp, go with a k20.

1. already said that above :-P
2. even wiht a k20 you're lookign at about 7 grand for the swap. and then another 7500 to even approach 300whp n/a.
3. jsut stick with the motor you have and boost it. you don't want vtec for boost anyway. it's just a pain in the ass to tune around. vtec is meant for n/a

Or.. do proper research..
A good steady combo of good parts..
Making around 190~200whp on the street will pretty much stroll most of the stuff you run into.. specially in a gsr or civic..
D-rob on honda-tech, had a 1.8 liter ls/vtec with some pro2's ran 13.1's all day and only made 190whp..
just to clear it up, 13.1's are as fast as
Bolt on evo's
Bolt on srt-4's
Stock ls1's
mildy modded lt1's
I can make a huge list bro of what 13.1's can walk..
You dont need an insane amount of whp to beat people..
Take it from someone who has it.. believe it not i firmly believe 220+whp on the street is over kill, specially on a open diff tranny and small tires.
