Hybrid owners???
Anyone on here actually drive a Hybrid Civic, Accord or Insight?
I'm specifically looking for driving impressions on the Insight but, any info is always appreciated.
My main questions are:
How is the ride in the Insight?
How is acceleration as compared to, say, a regular civic LX or something? (No, I dont expect RSX Type-S power out of a 76ish HP motor with IMA)
With the price of fuel rising the way it is, I'm seriously considering seeking out a used Insight(maybe later this year).
If we're lucky, a new form of power will bring about a new revolution of engines and the Insight will be to us in a few years what the CRX is to us now.
.... and then hopefully someone will build replacement rear fenders without the wheel cover thingys.
Well my parents just bought a hybrid civic in the UK....and that will be my main car when I move there in Sept.
As for the insight...lets just say that it does move forward...not so quickly...but it moves.
I do suggest a Civic...they are MUCH nicer, much safer, and much more solid feeling. They also have a bunch of stuff the insight doesn't....such as a more comfortable interior, a better sound system....etc

I'd take the civic over the insight. I drove both of them regularly when I worked at the honda dealer and I have to say the insight has no take off what so ever, imo at least.

The insight is very very low to the ground, its a fun ride and theres very little to no engine noise (as most hybrids, it sounds like a computer fan.) But keep in mind being so small/light/low to the ground it suffers road noise very poorly. The times that I drove the insight I remeber it being very loud on the highway, and kindof rough. You really feel every bump. All in all though its definately worth it.
my folks own one of those hybrid things. the ride is pretty darn smooth, and it has a pretty neat interior, its just a little too ...modern, let's say. i prefer to actually hear my engine as opposed to let the car drift around silently half the time on battery power. it does eat as little fuel as a car can eat, i must admit..

I drive 145 miles per day and I am really considering getting a Honda hybrid. Personally I could car less about performance (unless of course it takes me 1/4 to get up to 60 mph). I am shelling out over $100 per week for gas....
Hybrid is the only way to go!
