2.Would the compression have to be different if I went with a sc instead of a turbo?

1. depends on the boost level (and horsepower you want to make),

2. no, it depends on boost level,

for normal boost ( <8 lbs ) most engines should be perfectly fine, if you want to run alot of boost on stock gas 9.0:1 is the ideal compression.

it all depends on how fast you wanna go and how deep your pockets are. and what he said ^^^

typically most people run low 9 or high 8's in compression with boost. BUT, if you can find yourself a reputable tuner like Jeff Evans or someone somewhat comparable to him, you can jump up to 10-11.
