6x9s will fit ...... well it depends on where you want them and how much you want to "trim" the pieces on your car.

I used to have 6x9s in my rex (amongst others) and I eventually turned to regret it and had to spend $$ to buy original pieces that hadnt been cut.

My suggestion: Stick with factory sized speakers. You will not lose or gain any sound volume or quality with a different size, so whats the point?

hmm i think i just might stick with stock size then. i kinda wanted 6x9s so theyll go good with the 10 i wanna get. but im getting alpine speakers so i dont think clarity and loudness will be something to worry about.

what is the stock size in the back? 6.25?

they guy that had it before cut out holes for 6x9's in the back cargo cover...if you still have that, you can just make a cutout and mount the speakers there, sorry no pics, but ill tell you they look nice and even

and once again you are cutting up your car!

WHY??

Oh, you must like the idea of being able to see those nice speakers --- and then having them stolen!!!

Oh, it must be the those extra couple of inches that you like for that much more sound! No wait that cant be it either.

The only reason I can think of to put 6x9s in your car is that your broke and your getting used speakers.

Im not trying to flame because I did the same thing a couple of years ago and I ended up regretting it and I dont want you doing the same.

Stcok size is 6.5 if I remember right. - Check Crutchfield.

alright first of all, they havent gotten stolen yet so shut your yap. when some people that stole my deck and amp, they didnt bother taking my speakers because they either would have had to unscrew them, or just take the whole cargo cover...so dont try to make it sound like it is a stupid idea because it isnt. and as long as you do it right, it will look nice and clean, not stupid and useless. fucker. ohh yeah this isnt my name, im on someone elses so if you have anything else to say PM me at dlim1

ok first off, i wanted 6x9s because it would sound really nice with the 10 i wanna get for summer. im not an audio genius so that is why i made this post. but if 6.5 is the stock size in the back ill stick with that. i dont want to have to cut up my baby! and as far as my shit getting stolen, im going to be building a custom box for the sub im getting and bolting it to the frame of my car. im also getting probably a clifford alarm system with shock sensors, pager, immobilizer etc. oh i got my club too but all u need is a dremel tool to get thru one of those.

anyways! 5.25 for the front, 6.5 for the back! alpine all the way baby!!

which idiot ever cut up original pieces to put in 6x9's ?

damn

just get some wood... saw it, file it, make it the same form as the rear deck... get some 6x9" holes in there and get some upholstery to go over it...

then hang the speakers UNDER the board and nobody can see them...

i'm not trying to flame here, buy why in the hell would you want to pull a hack job just to fit a 6x9?

there's only one reason anyone would want a larger cone size. and that's more low end.

bigger cone = move more air = more bass

if you're running a 10, you wouldn't even notice the difference. but hey, if you wanna do it just to be hard-headed, then go right ahead. i'll be more than happy to sell you my interior rear pieces (all fiberglass for my little rex) for some ridiculous figure when you realize that everyone else was right and just trying to help you out.

seriously man, don't butcher your car.. it's not worth it.

:

EDIT:

oh crap... just looked at the date on this thread. sorry for digging up old news.
