89 CRXsi B18B Swap(with smog)?

I came across an 89 CRX si with an 95 B18B swap... they blew a timing belt, now the head and pistons are fukt.... If I were to buy another B18B and put it in the rex.... could I get it to pass smog? I have a stock obd1 B18B ECU, I will buy what I have to.... I heard a B18B in a rex would be a savage.... Cause it has torque and horsepower throughout the whole RPM range, but the B16 revs 1200 rpm higher and has Vtec... This is a daily driver and eventually I want to turbo (Heard Ls turbo was super hard)..... I really need it to pass smog though because I dont know any other way to drive the car with tags and what not.... The ref will have to see it.... what do I need to make this CRX (with a FULL LS SWAP) pass smog.... it is also half ass converted to obd0 from what I am told... What is the difference between obd0 and obd1?

Ok i take it you live in cali, ok well if the b18 is in it already that means that the major work is done. As for smog in cali you have to have a motor that was sold in the usa, all the smog equipment, and newer then the car. you have to make an apointment with the Ref to have a Bar exam. if you want to Drag i would say leave the b18 if you want to have handling use a b16 and go all motor it is more reliable. If you want to find out more about the smog here is the number 1-800-952-5210 and to make a reservations for the Bar exam is 1-800-622-7733 i would also put in the stock b18 ecu and convert it to obd1 you'll need to get a couple of harnesses i dont think it will pass smog with obd 0 on a obd1 engine. i would recomend a b16 tho just cuz you need it to be reliable and just go all motor.

well.. I like torque

I know what I am doing.... somewhat.... I have a built 98 cavalier 2.2l OHV running high 15s with I/H/E, Solid motor/Tranny mounts, and good driver ...
I like bottom end..... I know a B16 is hard... My boy has a gutted 89 Civic DX, B16A swap, AEM EMS, OBD1 conversion, Solid mounts, DC Headers, Full HKS Exaust, TypeR Intake Manifold/Throttle Body, Type R Cams (Crower), and Civic TypeR Pistons... I drove it.... VERY IMPRESSED..... One of the fastest cars I have been in...... but no power untill about 5000 rpm, at 3rd gear.... Vtec is pulling hard..... but I am spoiled.. I am used torque.... 1.8 B18B I have driven.... The force in this one is strong.... I dig it..... I know when I boost.... CLOWNIN!!!!! But untill then... b18B is cheap, and I already have the full swap.... I just need a motor, and conversion to OBD1 to satisfy the man....... I know I want BOOST!!!! LS Seems the best way and most effective start for what I have....

Just so those of you know:
89 CRX Si
-95 B18B Swap (full)
98 Cavalier 2.2 OHV
15.923 1/4 mi. (I/H/E, Stock internals, stock tranny, motor mounts, 3 inch dropped, drag suspension)
-Now has a broken tranny, too buku....
