well, drumming, its good to see you don't complain about life. just your car. haha. i know how u feel. my car skipped timing. probably because i had the head milled too far down. piston hit the valve, cam stopped, crank kept going, now it's screwed. bottom end is ok though. i got a b16a head in the mail right now. i'll be in the boston area dec. 21 thru 25. u gonna be in san fran or boston?
and stjohns, who said you can't drive your rexy? heat is for sissies. lol. jk
to sol, you sounds like you're gonna make things work out for yourself. that's good. i think everyone should try and keep up with the world. no easy task. hopefully, i'll be done next year with my associates and be wearing the master ase badge

I thought about doing auto tech. I still am debating wether I should do it or not. But I'm enrolled in the Business program right now so I might as well stick it out and see what happens. I need to stop changing my mind about things.
So basically, I have no fucking clue. Tried driving up to NH to drop off/sell some shit that won't make a cross-country trip in a CRX (no, there isn't a uhaul or trailer involved, just me and my car), but she backfired as I was leaving my neighborhood, then died, then wouldn't start again. The crx might be light, but pushing it up hills is no picnic, let me tell you. I'm hoping it's just bad fuel, I'm heading out to test that theory now.
@lude_pwr
If all goes according to plan, I'll be in San Fran by then but who knows, with the way things have been going lately. You know, it's entirely possible that my timing has skipped a tooth, and is causing the stalling/backfiring/whatnot. Oh, and my exhaust doesn't have rubber hangars... it has zip ties.

drumming, do not drive your car with the timing off. especially across country.
Oh, I hear you. I've been through too many engines already, I've learned my lesson
It turned out to be bad fuel though. The backfire was caused by the catalytic converter being ... not attached to the collector (fixed with some wrenching and a second gasket to fill part of the space between), and apparantly letting your car sit for an extended period causes the gas on top to turn white. Don't let your car sit.
I coerced her to get down to the gas station, put in some premium (just to be on the safe side), and have yet to hear another stutter or problem. The snow squall we got today did NOT go over well on these tires though. On tire rack, their rain rating is quoted as being a 4 of 10, and the snow rating is N/A. No more snow for me.
I should still figure out something a little more permanent than zip ties as exhaust hangars, but I really don't see much reason for it. They hold well enough, and nobody seems to carry rubber hangars, so fuck it.
@sol:
I'm moving because:
1) it's cheap in Arizona
2) it's not cheap in Boston (or NH for that matter)
3) I need to be able to tap the California technology personnel (as the company I'm co-founding is making video games, we need digital artists and programmers, of which there are many in Cali, which is the expensive sister of Arizona)
@3687:
Tonight, I dine in Gonic (which is really just a cancer on Rochester [which is really just a cancer on Portsmouth]). Well, I guess it's kind of become tomorrow now. I'm stopping by Newmarket and probably Hampton before going back down to Mass to pick up the last of my things (I'm storing some boxes in my mother's basement so I can drive out with just the bare essentials). If you feel like getting together, I can probably stop by wherever you are. Also, if you know a good NH shop that will get me an inspection without looking too closely at ... certain modifications which are just barely not legal... it would be much appreciated. I'm moving to a county that doesn't even do inspections, anyway.
Sometime this week, I'll be in Ohio, and after that I doubt I'll look back toward the East Coast, other than to meet up with a few bands I know from back here.

jeez. everyone seems so busy with themselves. i feel like a loser. lol.
i will soon post pics of the carnage and the aftermath...
anyways, to get closer to our 1000 post goal, i've been curious. where is everyone at and what is the scene like over there?
me, i'm in the western north carolina area. the scene here is sort of strong. we have our fair share of ricers that want to ruin the world for us. I call them all paul, and they look at me like "huh, he must know me, but i don't remember that face." haha. i'm just like "wassupp, paul?". little do they know i'm referring to the infamous paul walker. haha. other than that, there is a lot of tuners down here that i truely put my hands down to. some, few actually, seem to really know their shit. there's a guy down here who's got a 4g63 in an old beat up dodge colt. and really lays it to some unexpecting pauls. i bow down to few cars and the people that build them around here, but most of them are just flat out ricers. so in other words, we need more true tuners out here... life would be better.

Well, let's see. Since I started getting into the tuner scene, I've met a couple other people in the right mindset. For the most part, it's lone-wolf up here. No good groups of people that I've found. Just recently I've been noticing people in the area who have crxs (that aren't rusted through) but I'm leaving to the no-rust state of Arizona. It's going to be nice. I won't have to media blast the crx every year now! woot!
Luckily the ricer scene died down pretty quickly up here. It's too expensive, and too rusty (meaning expensive parts come around more often) so a cleansing happened. There appears to be plenty of garage space, by and large (even right outside of Boston I have garage to work in) but the weather kills half the year.
Man Arizona's going to be nice.
I just realized that I'm coming up on 1000 posts. Do I get a prize? I think I'm going to leave for good when that happens. My 'project crx' blog is quite good enough to keep me entertained, and at least the admin there listens to complaints...
ahem. We're still stuck with this shit white theme. I really haven't contributed anything over here since then, and that makes me feel strangely happy. Honda tech has been treating me pretty well too, as well as tuner junction. Is everyone already registered on those places? If not, get over there. I'd rather hang out in a presentable place. This is getting to be like meeting in the White House (where the people in charge never seem to care what people really want).

up here in AK, there are a lot of ricers!!! I mean lots. You of course have a few ppl who are die hard and know what the hell they are doing, but it seems like you gotta keep things on the low up here. If not, you're nice ass ride is gonna get jacked. Damn thieves!
There is only one shop I have found that specializes in tuning and what not. I haven't checked them out personally, but I drive by the shop every now and then. I hear that they are the ppl to see if you're trying to get something done.
Me and one of my buddies are thinking about building a turbo d next year. He also has another friend who is willing to partake in that endeavor. So we will have three seperate incomes to build something nice. We just need to find a car to start the project with. They want to build something for the track but I'm thinking BIGGER. I want to be the first person from Alaska to make it into a mag and what not. I just don't think they want to get it to that point, but who knows.
Anyway, to drummingpariah I'm on a couple of other forums, but the only one that is honda related is g2ic. I love 2g tegs, that's why I'm on there. I've owned two and would love another. I am thinking about getting on another forum, but I've been here at SHO for awhile and I intend to stay here for a good while longer. Just as long as things don't get anymore lame.
