So tell me Irish hows my motor working for ya. God I still miss that integra, my accord lx just doesn't have the balls. Hey i'm coming out to NH in sept you should definetly take me out partying, or i'll take you out, and we go see what is up with that mean motor in that little ity bitty car. maybe get my hands dirty helping you get her working. if you let me know i can cruise by where you live on my way out to NH and grab you, you can crash in lee if you can get the time off. peace
It's working great, but it's louder than the Integra was. Let me know when you're going to be out in Sept, I'll take a few days or a week off. I have some fun spots to meet up ;-) Turbine's great about time off, I'm taking today and tomorrow just to get the rex on the road (legally).
Remind me and I'll send you my number, I don't have it on me right now.

New ECU, and some new pics of everything installed. I had to saw down the intake ductwork because it wouldn't fit (I think my battery is just longer than the old one), and put a rubber connector to get the two halves back together. I'm pretty sure I got a picture of it, so you can see my awesome ingenuity... or something like that.
Once the pr4 (integra)ECU went in, the car went through the usual get-sensor-info-for-my-map-settings high-revving fun, and stabilized after that. It sounds consistent now, which it didn't with the pm6 (crx). However, I'm getting a short 5-blink code from the ecu, so I'm going to look that up. I'm guessing it has to do with the MAP sensor, because I had to use the CRX one (the Integra map sensor was a little mashed). I'll load up those pics sometime today.
*edit* me + title + last day in the storage facility:
we don't need no stinkin' hood!

All RIGHT! I'm in Mass now, with registration, license, everything required to drive. The exhaust is fucked. It's bad. I sound like an enduro car. I'm also running in limp mode, with an 05 code in the ECU (map sensor). I need to fix my vacuum lines. Because every diagram I've found so far isn't specific to the b18a1 intake manifold, I'm going to write my own diagram and post it up here. That's my project for tomorrow morning, and I'm going to order a nice new catback exhaust. In the meantime, here's a pic of the biggest problem area I hit (space-wise).

Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything decent (stainless, mandrel, passenger-side-exit) without a 4" muffler Stupid fart can. I'll likely leave the silencer in or get a different muffler and weld that on. Anyway, here's what I ordered:
Next Episode: Customizing/Installing my cat-back exhaust.
After much googling and lurking on forums, I have come to the conclusion that there is no good howto on setting up vacuum lines for a b18a1 in a CRX. Unfortunately, the b18a1 intake manifold is extremely complicated, vacuum-wise. There are all sorts of extra lines that really do nothing and need to be either re-routed or capped off. The trouble is: which ones?
Unfortunately, nobody seems to know. Through simple, straightforward testing using all the tools at my disposal (most importantly my finger, which tells me whether there's positive or negative pressure from a line/fitting), I'm going to try to unravel the mystery.
Step 1: Research
We'll be using the b18a1 intake manifold, because it comes on the engine most of the time.
Because the b18a1 map sensor cluster doesn't work with the d16a6 (or any d16) wiring harness, we'll be re-using the d16a6 map sensor cluster.
These two images show how each system wants to work. Unfortunately, they work in very different ways. My main goal for now is to get positive pressure where the sensors need it and negative pressure where those other sensors need it.
Step 2: Testing
Here I'll be finding out which lines do what, and what sensors need what. I currently have a working setup that doesn't throw codes, so I'll be using that as a base. I'll update this post accordingly as new information is gathered, and hopefully we can have a good solid howto by the end of the weekend. Then comes the FUN stuff, with new parts!

does anyone know what ecu i will need for the setup im looking at doing. ive got a 91 crx hf, i will be using a b18a1 from a 91 acura integra ls. now the engine is coming out of an automatic car, and i will be doing a manual swap.
as far as i know the transmission and clutch will be a cable trans out of a 93 integra. which ecu do i need? do i use the one out of 93 or the 91? and does it matter if it comes out of an auto or manual car?
i believe the ecu, trans, & clutch are the last pieces of the puzzle for my swap. ill have the entire swap bought for under $500 and am allowing for $100-$200 worth of maintenance and miscellaneous for the swap

Well, you have a few different ways you can go about this. There isn't a single point-and-click solution. Because you're coming from an auto, you'll either have to re-chip that ECU or get a manual b18a1 ecu. You COULD use a pm6 (out of a CRX si) but you'd have to load custom .bins into that, and it sounds like that might be a little out of your realm of experience.
Now, you'll have to decide whether you plan to go obd0 or obd1. The 1990 and 1991 Integra LS was the obd0 b18a1. The 1992 and 1993 Integra LS was the obd1 b18a1. You can do either but either way, it'll have to match up as a Manual ECU. I believe that for the auto -> manual swap, you'll just need the transmission, transmission mount, flywheel/clutch combo, and shift linkage but I haven't done one myself. You may need a different speed sensor, different axles, etc. I honestly don't know, but it sounds like fun!
So, all that being said... what are you working with? What's already been done? This is kind of a side-road, but here's a thread I came up with for chipping a pr4 auto over to manual: PGMFI pr4 auto -> manual

I didn't realize how long it's been. I can't actually see a word of what I'm typing right now because the ads now cover the typing area. Wonderful new layout, SHO. I'm so impressed, words cannot express it.
*sigh*
I got the car down into MA, put some work into it, finished swapping my drilled+slotted Integra brakes into it, mapped the ECU, fixed the exhaust, replaced a wheel bearing, replaced a tie rod, fixed my intake ductwork, replaced my hood properly, spaced and adjusted my headlights, re-fitted both the front and rear bumper after shaving off some of the inside of them, put in my bumper lights and bulbs, cleaned the interior, replaced the spark plugs and wires, replaced the battery, had the wheels balanced, filled the gas tank, drove it around, and am now re-registering it.
No, you don't get any pics. I did keep a careful log of everything I did, and wrote up walkthroughs on some of the finer points along with tips and tricks for separating the lca, removing those damned screws in the rotors, fitting the new calipers, and remapping the ecu, but I don't see a point to posting any of that here. I honestly can't stand to have this site up on my computer, it's unbelievably hideous. If anybody WOULD like some specifics, PM me. I'd be happy to send you a link to the forum that DOES make sense and has actually been an amazing place for intelligent people to get together and discuss cars. To be honest, I've missed SHO. Unfortunately, coming back here after a month doesn't make me feel any better. It was raped by the new admins. This isn't really the place for that, so anybody who's interested in seeing what I think, feel free to visit the official SHO suggestions thread here: http://www.superhonda.com/forum/show...88#post3820988
Take it easy, and good luck to anybody who wants to swap in another obd0 motor into their crx.

Ive been on here all night reading about your whole swap. I recently bought a 89' crx and will be putting my B18A1 in it out of my wrecked integra. I know it will be quite some work, but i love doing it so it should be fun. I know ill get tired of it at the end but it should pay off. Just wanna say thanks for posting all this info, if not i would be lost in doing this swap.

Be sure to check out my site as well. I've got a lot of good info in there, and a shortened writeup on how to swap in the b18a1.
