I currently have an 89 CRX SI with a B18A1 swapped into it, (this swap was started by a friend and finished by myself around a few years ago so I'm trying to refresh/learn a few things) well this shell has seen better days (rust holes in floor, frame, body), and I currently found a 90 DX in almost immaculate condition that I am currently in the process of swapping. Although, I have to came upon a few discrepancies within different web pages that I must clear up in order to continue with the swap. The first one is regarding a dpfi to mpfi swap; I have read in some write-ups and on some boards that I can simply switch the wiring harnesses (engine and chassis [SI to DX]), others have said that the swap must be completed and that the harnesses cannot be used. The second discrepancy is actually in reference to the previous posts (sub-frame), when I had purchased the SI, the engine was already in it but needed wired, hosed, and bolted down. I had noticed when pulling it that the sub-frame had writing on it (some junkyards mark their parts with a combination of letters and numbers [which made me question if he had swapped the sub-frame?]), will this sub-frame from the SI have to be switched to the DX? (I have previously lost connection with the friend who started the original swap)
If you are referring to the dimensions of the two sub frames, I was told be a trusted source that they are the same (no interchanging is required for the B18A1 swap)...Hope that was of some help (try to save you from wasting valuable time).
I just happened to come back to SHO (seriously guys, I don't spend much time here any more... this place kinda sucks now). I didn't even see these comments here!

just found out the transmission i bought has a hole in it under one of the bracke mounts....
at least i found it before i installed it all
thats one benefit of not having any time
That really sucks. How the hell do you get a hole in a transmission!

Both subframes are the same. Your subframe could certainly be from a junkyard, considering the numbering. Honda also does the same sometimes, though. If you look at your center console after taking the plastics off, you'll see that they wrote on it with a sharpie.

Stock sucks!! DIY, but research first!!!
Ok so I know that I'm always one of the "preachers" on doing research, but I don't know if I've confused myself (I know I'm confused as f*ck), or if I've just been going back and forth between articles and it's all bled together but.....
Now that my B18 is out and I'm in the process of cleaning it up while my old man is unbolting the D15, I need to know something...I have done the DPFI to MPFI swap in my DX, so thats out of the way. Can I use the engine harness from the DX to wire the engine (B18), (simply put pull out the D15 and drop in the B18 and plug and play) or do I need to go through and tear apart the rest of the car to get the engine/chassis harnesses? Again, I've tried doing research, but somewhere between the SI and DX differences; some people saying to use all Integra wiring; and some diagrams showing chop-shop jobs,it just bled together into a cluster f*ck in my brain and I just need a simple answer. Can I plug and play the B18 with DX wiring plus the wiring I did for my DPFI to MPFI swap?
I woul like to finish this swap soon..My mom is throwing a bitch fit because my donor Rex has been in the drive way/garage for around a year (I just started the swap this past winter after finding my good-bodied CRX) and she wants it gone soon...I just wanted to know what all I need to grab before sending it to the great junkyard in the sky...
Sorry it was long-winded but I always make sure when asking a question that I get as much info in as possible (and I like to b/s too). Thanks for all of your help guys...
If you're using the CRX body-side wiring harness, you'll have to use the CRX engine-side wiring harness. If you're rewiring the whole car, you can use the LS wiring harness for both. The LS wiring harness does not mate up with the CRX wiring harness correctly. By that, I mean they REALLY don't mate up:

Does this mean that the engine wiring (plugs going from the engine to the wiring harness) from the B18 will plug directly into the DX wirinng harness and that all I have to do is drop the engine in and connect it to the stock (DX) wiring harness?

No. You're basically looking at a few setups here:
All CRX:
This is where you take a full MPFI CRX wiring harness and plug it in to an obd0 b18a1. That's what I did, and that's what I suggest. You'll have to convert your wiring harness over to MPFI, but that's something you'll want to do anyway.
CRX/Integra:
This is a sketchy proposition, where you take the full Integra Engine wiring harness (the part that plugs into the engine itself) and the Firewall wiring harness (the part that goes from the firewall to the engine harness) and mate those up to your existing car's wiring harness. It's a pain in the ass, and isn't even guaranteed to work.
The DX wiring harness is crap. It doesn't work with anything. You can't use it without modifying it for anything but a DX motor. That being said, good luck and take lots of pictures!

Thanks for clearing this up with me..It would seem by looking at the chop job completed by my buddy who originally did the swap that he did the latter of your post. I would say that this is what confused the hell out of me...
One quick question, there is a pin (not sure if it's a dowel pin or if it's threaded) in the transmission holding the shifting rod to the transmission. I tried googling/searching for it on SHO, but I didn't know the correct term for it and I just got a bunch of junk answers...Well my engine would be out and the B18 on it's way in if I could get this one little f*cking pin out. I have been going to war with this little bastard all morning/afternoon and it's pissing me off. I have been tying to get it out with needle-nosed vice grips but to no avail. Is this a dowel pin or is it threaded and any ideas on how to get it out? I would like to get it out because as soon as it's out, my engine will follow (need to get the pin out then I can unbolt my mounts and jerk the son of a bitch right out). Thanks for all of your help guys...

The correct term for that pin is 'bitch pin'. I'll get you a writeup today.

Now keep this in mind; I'm not retarded I just need a confirmation. I want someone to confirm my theory.
Ok, so I'm almost positive that this is what was done...I was just wondering if anyone could confirm my theory...The previous posted pictures by drumming just confused me a little bit...Now I am 99.9% sure that the B18 was rewired using the DX harnesses as they look almost identical, but I am still going to post these pictures just so I can be positive.
I just got done reading your site as well. I noticed yours was a 91'. Will it be the same for a 92' B18A1 as well?
No, the '92 b18a1 is obd1, which means you'll need to convert your wiring harness to obd1 in addition to everything else. Luckily, you'll have fewer vac lines to deal with on the '92!
Good luck, and take lots of pictures!
