CRX B16 oil leak. Need Help!!!

Hi everyone,

I am new to Hondas and to the forum. I hope that you guys can help me out.

I have a very bad oil leak and cant figure out where it is coming from. It looks like its coming from behind the engine somewhere under the throttle body. This started about few weeks ago and just keeps getting worse. I'm having to add a quart of oil every week.

Has anyone had a similar problem? What would be the best way to narrow down the source of the leak? I dont know if it's related, but my engine also started ideling rough(800rpm-1500rpm).

Thanks in advance.

have u double checked your oil filter? its under the throttle body it could have a double o-ring on it and i have personally done it twice its not hard to do and if done just right will seal and then leak after awhile, or sometimes right away. also if the b16 was ever turbo you should check for an oil feed hole just above the filter. i had that prob with my 97 dx . if none of that works then you most likely do need a new head gasket.

Why is it that when someone hears my car rev they automatically assume that i have a pepboys tip hack-welded on my car instead of a full 3" turbo back exhaust system??? is it me being white, not driving a domestic??? or is it because so many mullet-fucks are afraid to admit that their not the only ones who know how to work on a car??

Thanks for your reply. I did check the oil filter and its not comming from there. I was leaning toward the headgasket myself just wasn't sure. Is there a website with good DIY instructions for replacing the head gasket besides the service manual? Any other tips?

Is this kit any good?

pick up a haynes manual for a 96-00 civic or 94-2001 integra. both will have the instructions for changing a headgasket for a dohc vtec motorwith pictures and step by step instructions

Thanks I will do that. Is there a good brand for the Head Gasket so I don't have to do it again any time soon? Is this kit any good?
