PLease help me...I have a 91 CRX with a JDM B16a swap with a PW0 ECU... I have recently decided to downgrade...I am wanting to go back to a SOHC motor so i can run in my stock AutoX class... I am debating between a D16A6, D16Z6, or building a Mini Me Motor... Does anyone here have any idea what it would cost me to do the switch ??? I did not put the B16 in the CRX I bought it with it in it already. I would love to have a Vtec motor still...and yes i know that the A6 is not a Vtec...
All i deas are welcome...and no i do not want to stay b16 so dont suggest that...(i know it is retarded to drop back to a SOHC from a DOHC)

You have no idea how sad you will be... What you should really do is buy a Spoon VTEC controller! I have one for sale if you want, and it's OBD-0!
I know there will be a definate difference...but i cant run in my "STOCK" class in AutoX with a B16 since they did not come factory in the CRX in the USA...i dont use this car for "STREET" or "DRAG" so the bigger motor doesnt matter to me...in AutoX "Bigger" is not always "Better" it is about driver skill and consistant times...i am not competitive in the current class i am in which is a modified class...i dont think i will be "sad" at all...i will have exactly what i want. Besides...I am getting tore apart by a 110% STOCK 89 CRX SI with a D16A6 with the same suspension setup i have....

I would go with the a6 it's plenty of power for autox....I think that the z6 would probably still put you in a modified class and the mini-me would for sure, you have to match the head and block if I remember right (but its not like the techs know anything).

yeah you are right... i am reading over the rulebook right now and i think it will have to be an A6...The SCCA Chapter that i am in will let me run the Z6 in my stock class...but i cant run nationals with it...so i think that an A6 would be just fine.

I guess you got it all figured out then huh? :clap sucks you can't run the z6 in nationals. I think the z6 is the better sohc motor. I've had two in my past del sols. you should be able to find a swap, or all the parts you will need for fairly cheap.

i agree...i wish i could run a Z6 but they didnt come in the REX. (which is why i cant run it)

I think its a great idea. I love the SOHC. yes the b16 is better. But there is someting to be said for a well built SOHC. The a6 is a very strong motor and will take alot of abuse. Add some internal upgrades port polish balance etc.... And and A6 will give you a run for your money. I am currently working on building one. I know you can't modify the engine that much in a stock class but if you put lets say 88-89 integra pistons in one you get an extra .1 of CR and a few extra ponies. The rods are stronger too. Good luck Auto x is fun I wish I could afford to do it.
