I have an '88 CRX (not the Si, with all it's added weight or the HF). This is my 2nd CRX and I have had it for about 2 years now. In July I will be tearing down this CRX.....to frame, to rebuild. I am not an active "street racer" but I think everyone here will agree that speed and beauty are good bedfellows. I have all the plans for the exterior so I am not worried there. However, I have been rather undecided about what I should put under the hood. I have heard a few opinions but could use some more. I did make the decision to go with the Acura suspension (all disc 5 pattern is better than disc/drum 4 pattern). I'm not looking to be the fastest rex on the block, I just want to be fast enough to wipe the smug look off that b@stards face in the lane next to me.
Just on a side note, I did recently come across a Mugen B18c for 10k. It has more modifications on it than Michael Jackson and I was very impressed but I don't know if I want to spend THAT much.
The guy that posted the ad said he had all the specs/dyno/paperwork on the engine but he has yet to e-mail them to me. I would have to go to San Antonio to pick it up (i live in SoCal). I have a little under 60k saved up for my build, as I have been wanting to do this for about 4 years or so.

If you have the money to spend hasport makes a motor mount kit to drop an h22 into a crx a little custom fabrication will be needed but would be pretty impressive. If not i would go with b18c jdm type r motor with lsd tranny. Your easiest way to go would probably be to buy a gsr with a junk body take out the whole wiring harness motor and tranny axles shift linkage and buy some swap mounts then drop it in and would still be pretty quick. As what this guy ^ said k20 would be nice as well and is the highest torque motor honda makes. On any one of these you would spend a lot less than 10 g's
If you have that much money saved up you might as well go with the best/newest that is out there, the K-series. You will not be disappointed with it, those motors have the highest potential IMO all around at the cost of a pretty penny.
The more I research the k20, the more I want to put it in my car. Now a few questions arise, just for clarification. Does anyone know how much modification/fabrication it takes to put a k20a in a CRX? Or if anyone knows of a good site that has the info I would appreciate it. Oh and btw, this car WILL be a sleeper. I'm tearing it down to frame for a few reasons. And these reasons are listed below:
1. Stripping of ALL paint/primers
2. ALL interiors redone
3. ALL Glass redone
4. Door Modifications (Shaved and Scissored)
5. Weight modification
6. Because I will have entirely too much time on my hands when I get out of the Navy in July.
whynot get the k24/k20 head combo then turbo it if your $ is near limitless..and i believe youll need to do a little bit of custom bending and denting to make a k series fit. but it has been done. the wallpaper of my desktop it a crx with a k20/ITBs.
whatever swap you do, it will be a sleeper. heh.

And i don't think Mugen ever made motors.
If you have a ton of money to dump though, go K20. It's the best option out there for our cars IMO.
