Losing coolant, Not HG

MY engine overheated last week and cracked the radiator. I replaced the radiator, hoses, thermostat. After I started driving it again it still was overheating, and began with the white smoke. So now that its torn apart for a HG replacement there was nothing wrong with it, the cylinder head has been sent out for the leak test. Is there anything else that it could be other than a cracked head? Any suggestions?

you might want to think about checking the block to see if it has a hairline crack this has happened before in many other cases
