i just put a 1.6 head on a 1.5 block and i cant get it to run good it starts to bog out on secound gear. i tried to set the timing but i dont know if the timing is different and that might be the problem? or do i have to make my own adjustments in any way like the harness or the tpc and or the distributer.

first off what block with what head did you go vtec or stay non vtec? what ecu? if vtec did you wire up the solenoid and pull the tab out of the block for your oil to run through the vtec controller at the head? What timing belt did you use most the time except for a few instances you use the timing belt of the head there could be a million reasons why its not running right but lets start right there

its non v tech stock 1.6 and its the stock 1.6 ecu and distributer and same with the timing belt and manifold and the cover is a 1.6 too. is there still a way to set the timing? and or am going to have to change up parts or do some adjustments with the harness or the tpc?

since you are doin the nonv route and using the ecu with the right head timing is probably the problrm your going to have to set the timing on tdc(top dead center) the should be a mark under the timing gear and a mark on the gear you have to adjust it to i would suggests looking up the specs in a manual or get someone knowledgeable to show you how its done

also when i put the motor together i left the 1.6 intake manifold on the 1.6 head should i have put the 1.5 manifold on the 1.6 head would that have made a difference over all? if not so set the timing put it in top dead center and then just make my own marks on the pulley? but one thing when i got it top dead center is that there is still room to turn like inch or two it before it starts going down.do i set it right when the piston comes up or set it right when its about to go down?

the intake manifold should be fine but as in the top dead center i cant be exactly sure you probably need to talk to a mechanic thats done that before i dont want to tell you wrong and you mess up your motor always remmember better safe than sorry

im going to give it another try right now. everything seems good but the manifold is giving me problems aslo the hose from the throttle body to the manifold it looks like a little tea pot with a spout it will only stay on if its unplugged and it will idle around 2rpm but when i plug it in it turns off. If you ever came across this problem or you might know what it is let me know thanks alot.
Doesnt sound like a minime..... What timing belt are you using. You dont know what head you have??? You dont know what block you have??? Saying 1.5 and 1.6 doesnt help much.

im new to all this but the block is a d15b8 and the head im not shure but i know it came of a 1990 si i took it off the other block becouse it had no compresion. and i am using the belt from the d15b8 block seems to fit fine. the problems im having is getting it to drive good i wont go past secound it will start bogging out. but i also notice the throttle body is giving me trouble too theres this vacume hose that connects from the trottle body to the manifold it will only stay on if its unplugged. do you think it would be a good idea to just put the d15b8 manifold in it or would i have to change something with the harness and the harness came off the 1990 si too.

The b8 is a 8 valve motor I wouldnt of put a 16 valve head on that..
keep the intake manifold from the Si car on the Si head. Its a d16a6 BTW.
is there a book that shows you how to make adjustments with tuning and timing becouse that seems to be my only problem..cant get it to run good it bogs out in second.

The Honda service manual. You should be able to get a Hayne's or Helm's or Chilton's. Pull up your passenger's carpet, take the kick plate off, find a passenger with a video camera, and drive around with them filming the ecu (it should have a little red light that blinks) and load it onto youtube for us to decode, or you can decode it yourself, and see what errors the ecu is throwing.

its a 90 1.6 fuel injected manifold on it theres a vaccum hose that connects to the dashpot and i have to unplugg it to keep the car on but i idles out. but when i connect it back it sucks the tab on throttle arm back and it shuts off.. anyone have a idea what i could be?
