My early X-mas gift to the CRX enthusiast

Well, I know it's not much of a gift but somebody out there is gonna love this. It's on my server so please download it and save it for your own reference.

Everyone probably wonders where I get some of my information from and if it's actually accurate. Well, this is one piece from a lot of literature I have collected over my many years of CRX ownership. It's straight from Honda and I got it when I worked for Danbury Fair Honda many moons ago (yes, I worked at a few Honda dealerships).

It's a Honda "facts" book and is used to educated sales people on Honda models. There's very specific information regarding our CRXs. Keep in mind it's for the 1991 model year so some stuff may be different, for example in 1991 even the CRX dx had a back windshield wiper. Anyway it's a PDF file so make sure you have acrobat reader...here ya go, enjoy!!

Let me be the first to say "Thank You". I too am now on a quest to obtain as much knowledge as possible about my car and it's history.

One thing on the first page really stood out to me. It was the quote by Motor Trend which said "The CRX Si is a thoroughly practical car, with near station wagon-like hauling capabilities and a zero maintenance record." For some odd reason, I have always felt exactly like that when thinking back to my original '88 Rex, and again with my current vehicle.

Thanks again for sharing.

Pat

I just finished reading the entire thing. Sure would like to get my hands on the exact same thing for the '90 model. Hell, all 2nd gen years for that matter. It's nice to see all the specs side by side for all models in that year.

Interesting, I did not know that the '91 Si's came with power side mirrors. Something I wish I had.

If anyone else has other info they wish to share (that is not copywrited of course), please feel free. I will happily download any and all PDFs.

Pat - your incorrect. Honda choose some nice wording "Remote side mirrors" does not mean electric. It just means you don't have to stick your hand out the window. You can do it remotely with the little joystick.

If you look at the picture on the left of page 12, it says...."Dual manual remote-operated mirrors are standard on CRX and CRX Si"

Now, if you were in Japan the SiR had electric mirrors

remote operated mirrors just means they have a little lever on the inside to adjust them, as aposed to a 1986 dodge truck where you have to move the whole side mirror to adjust its angle

Damn. And here you had me hoping I could find some used USDM power mirrors. Hell, you have to practically be stretch armstrong to reach the passenger side "remote" mirror control. LOL

I'm really digging that glass top, and power options. Not so much the leather interior (if that is leather), or the color of it. I've seen a few glass tops for sale on eBay, but that would involve a lot of cutting and welding. Not sure I would want to do that to the structure of my car, even if it is only the roof. Still looks nice though.

This is just my opinion (actually my wife's as well)....

Please, please, don't touch that car. For god sakes don't even touch that funny intake tube on the radiator. This is the first bone stock non-molested CRX I have ever seen. This even beats my car (before the project) by a long shot. I'm sitting here reading about you adding power mirrors, and glass tops and I'm about to cry!!! I don't even want to see you put a wing on the car!!

I'm begging you!! If you want to screw with a CRX then sell me that one and go buy something else Honestly, that car is too perfect to touch. I'll buy it cash tomorrow if you want...seriously.

Don't worry, I have no plans on molesting this car at any time in the near future. I plan on having this as my daily driver for as long as it will let me.

There's just something about that glass top....

I guess it's like those guys in Holland say, they want the stuff we had standard (rear storage compartment) and we want the stuff that was only available in UK or Japan (rear seat, spoiler, glass top, power options).

Maybe one day, when Rexy has many, many more miles on her, I will turn her into a show car. For now, I am happy.

edit: And there will NEVER be a wing on this car. Closest I may come is a UKDM OEM Spoiler.
