Could be. Most of the time, it's just a loose worm gear in the speed sensor (little do-hickey bolted on top of the transmission with a cable coming out the top). Unless you get a huge jump/drop in power, that'd be my bet. I guess your diff could be slipping, which suddenly takes all the load off the engine. Does it happen at idle?

yeah it kind of runs rough at idle. with the stuff i told why cant nobody figure out why my car is running the way it is. thought yall studied hondas? i just want a lil start to look for and see if thats it... it pretty much started doing it like overnight one day. how much is a whole distributor rotor and cap set up for my car im pretty sure thats it. then i can fix the timing when i do that just need to get a price

The reason no one can tell you what it is falls on a fact that you will learn rather early on when learning hondas. they are very intricate and complicated, and just because you know the symptoms, does in noo way mean that we know the correct answer.

your tach jumps. that could be a worm gear, your diff., or even a short wire, or your relay. hell the problem could even be in the cluster .One problem could be caused by about ten different things when dealing with a honda. its a reality we all live with and adapt to.
