what should i do
hey guess i have a guy that wants to trade a 92 civic coupe for my ef hatch the coupe has a d16z6 swap in it and the body is in good condition. my ef has a jdm b16 swap in it with tsr header and exhaust but its not running right now and i dont have the money to get it running.he sai the z6 runs high nines in the 8th what would u do

honestly its a toss up on whether you want to trade up to an obd1 coupe or keep a fast sleeper. based on the eighth it runs a very high 15, so it really comes down to 1) whether you want a coupe and 2) if your willing to give up your dohc b16 for a sohc d16. hard choice but the budget situation makes it doubly hard to choose

yea i understand but the 92 is really clean its lowerd and has a vtec controller with it and it has a skunk 2 intake manifold on it.well in do time iam going to swap the z6 for a b18 so i think the coupe will be good for me and besides my hatch doesent look that good it needs work on it

thanks guys you have helped me out iam taking him to go look at my hatch tomorrow i think he only wants it for the swap so iam sure iam getting the coupe iam so happy i havent had a running car in about a year so ya for me. in do time iam dropping in a b18b with b16 tranny iam just going to put around in the z6 right now

well imo the best thing you can do is buy everything necessary for the swap before you do it. and i mean axels linkage wiring ecu tranny motor. and then dont swap it in. instead keep it in your garage and slowly amass a boatload of bolt-ons.
while you putting in the z6 and you have the motor on a stand(buy one if you dont have one trust me) rip it apart have it hot tanked, p&p the head or even save up your lunch money and get some nice skunk2 internals, or some stock bore je pistons to raise compression alittle.
as long as your sohc runs dont swap the dohc in. build your good motor as much as you can before it actually goes in and if you succeed at that when you finally do swap it in you will be well rewarded

I would want to know this guy's motives for wanting your ef, especially if he built a clean eg himself. Did he fuck it up and isn't telling you and wants an easy out from his screw-up?

well it runs good but i think the reason why he wants my ef is because of the swap that what he wanst it for and yea ill get everything before i do the swap what tranny should i go with

thats completely up to you an ls tranny will be the cheapest route, but while expensive the gsr,b16, or civic/integra type-r with lsd is always an option. boost works good on a ls tranny for high psi loads, while an 8 psi quick spool is suited for the shorter b16,gsr, or type-r. my opinion is save some money get a jdm type-r from a 98+ spec integra with the jdm type-r final drive, and lsd. its about the nastiest tranny you will find, but it also requires a shitload of money. a bit cheaper is the b16a/a2 tranny. i had an ebp em1 and the a2 tranny is shorter only to the gsr, and i had a blast with it. just do some searching and you will find deals all over the place just beware of sellers trying to "give away"(my loss is your gain bull shit) a junker

well i went and he started it he said he blew the headgasket he said when he was driving it was missing bad and then all of a sudden a cloud of white smoke poured out there is no oil in the antifreeze or anything.we are going to replace the headgasket on sat and if it runs good then i will get it its also idileing weird it wil idileing high then low and will keep doing this he said its the tps sensor what do u think

i gotta be honest with you. i remember a wise saying that goes "ill take the devil i know" which means he said it ran good it does'nt and that means that something else is most likely wrong the HG does'nt just go bad, most likely the head is warped because of overheating so i would say be very careful of it he seems very shady right now to me

yea i understand man thats why iam putting the head gasket on sat and if it dosent run better iam keeping the hatch also does the d16z6 tranny is it cable or hydralic. also i seen it run the night before it was running good as hell so i dont now whats wrong but about the idieling is that the tps its going up and down

I'll take a car that consistently won't start over a car that runs great some days and doesn't run others.
