when i first bought the car i was told i would only need about 3 things..A windshield, a turn signal lens, and a washer fluid reservoir..But this is what i have pieced together and had to deal with, for the past 8 months.
Windshield - $210 (broke one in the junkyard for which i paid $50 )
Brakes - $50
Seats -$60 (though i didn't need them, there was a deal i could not refuse)
Upper control Arm - $40
Headlight assembly - $30
Horn - $20
Intake- $20 (flexpipe with spectre filter , better than none)
Battery- $60
A/C panel- $40 (just to get it, since mine was cracked)
Spark plug tube seals - $20
Master cylinder - Free
Wheel cylinders- $30
And a bunch of misc. stuff like bulbs, wipers, bumper lens, License plate lens (yes, the mess on my bumper), washer fluid reservoir, seat belt buckles, more pieces to my interior, brake lines, and a battery hold down'
Not to mention all the tools i had to buy...
And to add to the fun, i had to fix a bunch of wires that were causing a few problems. (speed sensor wire, oil pressure wire, fan relay wire, and temp sending wire)
Since i was in high school, money was tight. Also paying insurance on a car 5 months before i could drive it didn't help at all either, especially at $200/monthly.
I know, I know, this project could have only taken me less than a month, but hey we live and learn. You know how cars are (fix one problem, find another). Now i just need to find an alignment rack ( i may wait until i start school next month, ill just do it myself there) and i need to get a set of matching wheels and tires, lol. I may just buy a set off steelies of my friend.
( I know there is not much difference between the pics, but there ya go)
Before
After
Motor (after cleaning paint off valve cover and intake upgrade)
Heater A/C control panel installed
Old Seats (Pass, driver) They don't look too bad, except for that infamous rip. But they were just sitting outside, taking whatever nature threw at it. This was before i even bought the car, so yea.)
Thus the madness continues...

so the control arm from ebay worked? or was that something else?
keep it up, if you keep on working on it, and making sure the little details are done correctly i'm sure ur crx will turn out to be a sexy beast! . And ya insurance suxs, i have a totaled car on my record so thats not good , you know you can get a GPA discount right? do good in school get more then 3.0 and it will help you in all kind of ways. There should also be other ways to get that cost down a bit.
