Buried the needle again
The first time I buried the needle I think I had a little bit of a wind behind me so I decided to do the test again. It was about 2:30, light wind from the west (I was heading north) and the road was mostly level with a few small hills here and there. I only had the needle slightly past 150 mph this time, but I got a good look at my tachometer. It was reading about 7,700 rpms when I shut down, I didn't want to push it further because I was worried about engine damage although the car was still accelerating very slowly. The car felt stable, but the handling was extremely twitchy at these speeds. The suspension would completely flatten out when I went over a couple hills. I wouldn't recommend anything over 140 mph in a Lude for any reason.
Afterwards I had to glue the rubber molding back down around the driver's side headlight. The air movement almost ripped it completely off.

good thing ur safe.
i've never took my base lude over 100mph.. mainly cuz im never on a long stretch of empty road. and i personally wont do it untill i get some shocks and sways. just to be cautious, even then i'd be hesistant to push it.

Bah...speedo is off starting around 70 mph anyway...and get off more the faster you go....best way to find out how fast you were going is by radar. I'm guessing you actually went about 140 mph when the speedo indicated 150.
i love going down this mile stretch where u can c if there is a cop or not down the hill........sooooooo fun to go down that hill flying at 140........there is always traffic so usually i don't get the chance:

Why try guessing? If we have the same car, we know what he's talkin about when he said his speedo said 150. I don't like trying to correct it becuase nobody really knows. Just go by what your speedo says wether its inaccurate or not.

I figure the Prelude speedo is about as accurate as any other car's. I'm sure they are all off to a certain extent, but 150 mph on the speedo is something most of the cars on the highway will never see y:
The first time I did my speed test I actually had the needle a ways past 150, so it was more like 160 mph but that was definately not the actual speed.

Yeah, I know the speedos are off a bit, but I'd rather just go by the speedo and not try to guess. So if my speedo says I'm goin 140, that's how fast I'll say I was goin.
What would you do if a cop got you on radar for that? Keep on rollin'? I don't know what I'd do, probably just get off the first exit and lay low for a little bit.
