Dummy Pipe!!

Wazup everyone, I was talkin to my neighbor yesterday after I got my 2 1/2 inch piping all the way back to the cat. converter. I want more power with exhaust upgrades, and I was asking him about taking my catalytic converter out, and installing as he called a "dummy pipe", which is just a straight through 2 1/2 in. pipe that replaces the cat., so my whole exhaust system is virtually straight through. I asked him about emissions and carb and everything, and he said that Honda is the only car company in the world that makes cars that can pass emissions without a cat. converter, and he also said that I could expect at least a 25 hp increase, what do you guys think? His name is Larry, he works at Dave Mungenast Honda in St.Louis Missouri, and he annually competes in Mechanic competitions, and he has been ranked number 1 in the nation 4 years running. I called a local muffler shop, and they said that they could make the pipe for me, but it's illegal for them to install it. It's around 40 bucks. I'm goin for it!!

More than likely you'll get a power increase of 3-5hp and only at the top of your powerband. The only way you'll see a 25hp increase with a test pipe is on an old 5.0 Mustang or similarly old V8...

Taking the Catalytic out of a Honda is BS. I did it and regret it. My exhaust is a full High flowing system.....I have an exhaust straight through and my car ran and sounded better when it had a working Catalytic.
Trust me, you'll want your Cat Back!!! Your car will run like shit.

i have a good friend with a 2001 GSR with test pipe and it hasnt sounded better. his performance is up and his car sounds mean as all hell. he has I/H/E, FPR, Cam gears, Pullies and can beat Mustang GTs and ITRs. its pretty quick.

What do you think the car is gonna smell like? Perfume....no
You will get a nice whif of it if any of your windows are open in reverse and you will have that smell sticking to you. When you have the trunk open if you are transporting something all of the exaust smell comes in the car and you will get dizzy and light-headed and nausiated and have VTEC Prefume. Everyone behind me smells that shit when I drive. Lesson of the Day: If your CAT breaks, FIX IT. If your CAT works, don't hollow it out.

No, offense what so ever but Larry must be ranked #1 in the annual mentally retarded Mechanics competition....

1) First your cars going to sound like it's farting all the way down you're street.(some people like the sound, most think you're a cheesnut)

2) You won't pass emissions.

3) You're exhaust will smell like shit.

And no you will not gain 25 hp, or 20, or even 15hp maybe just maybe 3-5 hp (this is being generous)

Gotta love Larry

I'm not sure what kinda cars Larry works on maybe muscle cars and big V8's? These cars will yeild better results when the cat is taken out maybe up to 20hp depending on the bottleneck?

For the love of God don't take out you're cat you'll be another annoying ricer....
