H22 N/A build, 200whp goal
I posted this in the "all motor thread" but I then realised not as many ppl go on there. So here is what I wrote
Well I think the title says it all.I haven't had a car for a year now. Buy I have this H22 that needs to be rebuilt. I want it reliable and quick, I think setting my goal at 200 for N/A is more then realistic. The motor burns oil so it needs a rebuild anyway. Here is what I was thinking for parts:Possibly getting H23 crank(ballanced)Some eagle rods.Type S pistons.Brian crower stage 2 cams.Brian crower valve train. And depending on money, send it away to portflow to get re-worked.What do you guys think? 200WHP atainable with this sort of setup? Thanks in advance.

Ok, awesome. I was hopping those parts would put me higher but was setting the goal at 200 minimum.
But do you really think I'd be pushing 250Whp teritory with thos parts listed? If so that would be awesome.
I gotta figure out what platform I wanna drop it in, I would love to put it in another lude. But something tells me it will end up being a civic si or something.
Every kid around here rocks riced up civics with bodykits, rims, and a fart pipe. It will be nice to show them how to build a real civic.

Maybe not as much. I'm just now really learning about the H22 and it's power limits and mods, but I can tell you I've seen a stock H22 with an H2B, which should have little to no result on a dyno, run 215 to the wheels. That's a healthy motor... but you get the idea that it shouldn't be too hard to hit 200 with aftermarket parts.

Really eh? 215 with just a h2b swap. That's impressive considering its rated at 200-220 depending on model. How was the torque? I have heard one of the h22s weal points is the tranny.

randy's motor is "stock" but its not "stock". There were tricks performed but he does have a very healthy motor.
200 is just a number, not important and stupid to base a build off a number which can change drastically solely on what dyno you get on.

finally somebody who understands. a dyno is just a benchmark for tuning. what it says and how it actually performs is a different story. 200whp with broad smooth powerband > peaky 250whp dyno queen power band

exactly^^ reliable and quick. people would be surprised what a tuned ecu will do buy itself. like factor in a moddified injector pulls etc. i just had my ecu chipped and tuned and it's still at stock psi and hauls ass. but fuck hondata. it's overpriced crap for what you pay. s300 is over 600 bucks. fuck that noise. it's a damn daughterboard and chips. that shit is worth maybe 120 dollars and they charge 600+? enthalpy and jimwolf are fucking ripoff's too. go with chrome or something

you can do alot with hondata though, you would be surprised. you can pick up a used one for about half the price, and a virgin p28 for 60 or 70 bucks.

like 2 step, timing/fuel maps, injectors, boost control, rev limit, speed limiting, etc. i can do the same thing with my ecu. it's a daughterboard setup. here is the rough equivalent for nissans
PLMS SR20 Daughterboards
you can achieve the same things as hodata with chrome and neptune. you're paying for a name with hondata.

would hardly call s300 crap considering they are the pioneers of honda OBD1 hacking and everything works like it is supposed to. Crome cannot even come close to comparing to hondata, neptune and ectune.
but i do not like them as a company, however, their products are beyond spectacular. You are paying for a product that works as it is intended and expandable with extra outputs to go beyond whatever you need. They do much more than what you listed.
i would highly suggest not speaking of products that you dont have experience with.
the system you mentioned doesnt even tune in real time which requires an emulator which is more money, not to mention it has no onboard datalogging. Then you have to buy a burner to burn the program onto the chip.
