Red face H22A New Koyo Radiator - Fans need bolt modding!!!

I have a '93 Prelude S, which has a '95 JDM H22A swap. I just bought the Koyo Radiator and the fan bolts won't line up I beleive that the Vtec radiators are different from the Si or S radiators. I have a good idea for this mod. I would like some ideas or if you have done this mod please share. :clap

My idea is that since the Radiator stock fan has one upper bolt that lines up, the rest are off position, I figured out that I can bolt a piece of aluminum for the other bolt positions (make aluminum arms) since the bolt pattern with the arms have a good mechanical advantage and it seems that if it the actual bolt that lines up loosens, due to to do the lengthen the arms added will keep it without rotating resulting in a good fitment. If it works alright I'll let you guys know.

I know that it might be hard to explain here, so I'll post pics during this week. For those of you who would like to buy or have encountered the problem already.

why not go to junk yard and find the correct fans for the radiator you bought ???

yes the S and VTIR fans and mounting holes differ.

koyo radiator fan mounts mod

I installed one on my 96 si - has the same fitment problems - you can improvise or you can look into FAL FANS - these bastards are expensive though.

What I did was use one mount on the bottom that sinked up for each fan and then drilled holes in the side of the thin edged sides of the radiator (obviously outside of the actual radiator) with matching holes in the fan housing and put in bolt/lock nut - 2 per side - then on top make custom brackets - from what i could tell that set up was much stronger and fit better than using the top mounts as your starting point for other improvising.

One fan will be easier than the other - and the fan that is on the left if you are facing your engine bay may end up actually rubbing on a primary chassis piece near the base of the motor - I had to actually shave about a half inch off the edge of this fan to stop rubbing.

That was my experience.
