how much did you pay for paint?

i went to the body shop today, they said 3g for paint and some body work. the thing that sounded shady was that the guy said he would weld a peice in where the rust has taken over but the rust would come back. and he said the paint on the door handles might chip/peal. i was wonderin how much every1 else paid for their paint jobs and how the quality is.

a quality paint job does cost some money. A couple g's will get you a nice paint job. The $400 paint jobs you hear about are shit. I don't know about the returning of the rust or the chipping, that doesn't sound right. Is the place reputable? Ask around your city and see what people use, call the honda dealer and see who they use.

never thought about calling the dealership to see who they use. that could be tomorrows project.

i dont want to pay $3k for paint when he says the rust is gona come back and the door handle paint might chip.

Out here in Massachusetts the avrg. paint job no body work is $1,500. Outside only same color with that show room shine. Maybe an extra 3-500 for body work. For 3grand not only will they do the outside but also paint door jams, under the hood, under the trunk and they'll remove both bumpers and all lights.

I paid $700

Kind of hard to see it all

All the jams and trunk were done also.

Dude, when it comes to rust, Ive been told best thing to do is sand it out then paint over it. Ive heard of decent paint jobs out here in MN averaging a grand. You should do what I do, meet people and make deals. Go smoke up the owner or something. Give him a ho to hug.

I'm getting mine painted for $500. I don't plan on keeping it for more then a year anyway so I could really care less what it looks like after I get rid of it

Other than a few dings here and there, a rusted sunroof and a chipped spoiler I could go another year without paint. If you see my car from far away you would think it was just painted, but upon closer inspection you can see the blemishes. Not bad for a 9 year old paint job though

rust is like an std...it will always come back to haunt you!

the only way to solve the problem is to cut it out and reweld.

What classifies as good? If you are going to paint it the maaco special urithane paint, then the price range would run about 500.

Now if you want a quality paint that will look great, base/clear coat is the way to go. This paint process will start at 1500 with no body work.

If you think about selling the car in 5 year go the cheaper route, otherwise spend the money.

do you have some pics of your problem areas?

Maybe you should save up for CF replacements (if they even make any) and save some weight? Just a thought..
