This happened to me about a year ago I think. I took it to my honda mechanic and it ended up being a bad cable reel. I don't remember exactly but I think it was 200-300 dollars to have them replace it. I debated just ignoring the light but i decided I would rather have piece of mind that my air bag would deploy if needed.

Bring it to Honda...I wouldn't fuck around if I had an SRS light on..that could save a life.

But it may not be worth the risk. It would be a good idea to have it checked anyway; that's a safety issue there.

you can read the srs code with a paper clip. this isn't going to hurt anything in the srs system. you can also clear the code using a different procedure. this will save you the 1.0 hour diag. you can then post your code, i'll look it up and you can decide if you want to fix it yourself(if possible) or take it in.

the scs connector is simply a connector that shorts the two wires, so use a paper clip.

I took my car to Honda dealers this morning but as I taking the car down I decided to use the A/C As soon as I switched the A/C on, the e brake and battery charge light slowly glowed on for about 1/2 second. I switched the a/c off and swtiched on again but the light didn't come on this time. however the SRS light is still on. Lets see what the honda dealers say hope it doesn't cost much

if that's what happened, i supspect they will say it was code 8-5 and you might need a new battery, maybe even alternator.

You know the funny thing is that the car had done only 29,000 km. I bought in 2000 when it had 8,000km and I only use it on fine weekends Iam trying to preserve the last of the prelude

Hi guys just to provide you with updates . The dealers hook my car up on the machine and finally found out that my alternator is under charging and its all fried inside When I went to workshop in the afternoon they had it little piceces. They told me I would be better off getting a second hand one as most accords use similar altenator and it will be cheaper . Tomorrow i'll go hunting for second hand one Will keep you guys posted

well, a new one from honda is your best bet- they updated it so the voltage regulator doesn't die out as easily
