Tein Flex vs SS????
Just wondering if anyone on here has had experiences with both setups? Ive searched and found a lota good comments about the SS, but not much info about the flex. If you get the upper mounts on the SS they are still around 100 cheaper than the Flex's. But is it even worth it to spend the extra cash to get the upper pillow ball mounts? In the pics I've seen it has the adjustable plate on top of the flex's, and I was thinking that maybe that was for camber, but just moving the strut wouldnt change the camber after I looked at the suspension on my lude. So what is that plate for? Also according to the adds ive seen so far only the flex is compatible with the edfc, but people on here say both are. So im not sure if I got the SS that edfc would be compatible, which I would like to have. Sorry this was so long, but for my third suspension setup I want to make sure I'm getting exactly what I want.
if u race at all get the flex's w/ the EDFC. However, if u get the pillowmounts w/ the SS' they will make noises from time to time. Its all in the price u want to pay for a good suspension set-up.

Well my thinking is that when imgetting that high in price a few more hundred isnt that big a deal anymore. But if they make noise with the upper mounts then as of right now I would be more inclined to get the SS without the upper mounts.
I own the Tein SS. To be honest, if this car is driven on the streets, the SS does great, and will handle any racings needs you have. the spring rates are 448F and 223R. if you race more often, I recommend to upgrade the rear springs to 336R. I did this and it works GREAT! the ride is friendly for the streets, and great for road racing. I opted not to buy the upper pillowball mounts as they make a lot of noise. I hate noise! The ride is comftorable, and stiff....great for me. I thought the SS wouldn't be sporty enough for me, but with the rear spring upgrade I made to them, they provide enough spring and handling for my liking.
the upgrade is 100 bucks for a set of 2 new springs from Tein.
I paid 850 shipped for my Tein's.
The type flex includes the upper pillowball mounts and 6XX or 7XX front rate springs with 336R. I think the balance of the springs has too much understeer, and a front spring of that spring rate is DAMN stiff for the street.....I think the SS are a better buy with the 336R spring.
if you do buy these, make sure to stop buy your local honda dealer and pick up the two shortened collars for the rear to prevent shock knock. apparently shock knock is more noticable with the tein's installed. (service bulliten)

lOOkatme where did you pick those up for 850? Thats the best price Ive heard of. Thanks for all the info also, Im def. set with the SS. I have never auto xed before, and dont plan on going every week or anything, so they sound like they would be perfect for me. BTW how much are the shortened chock collars? And do you need them on a 4th gen, cuz I know you have a 5th right.

talk to turboevo2000 on aim. he owns his own shop. ask him to do it for 850 shipped
some 4th gen's have the problem...some don't. its more apparent on the 5th gens.

Any shock absorbers may be used, provided that the system of attachment and the attachment points are not altered. The number of shock absorbers shall be the same as Stock. No shock absorber may be capable of adjustment while the car is in motion, unless fitted as orignal equipment. MacPherson strut equipped cars may substitute struts, and/or may use any insert. This does not allow unauthorized changes in suspension geometry or changes in attachment points (e.g., affecting the position of the lower ball joint or spindle). It is intended to allow the strut length changes needed to accommodate permitted modifications which affect ride height and suspension travel.
This is from the rule book at moutons.org. I am not sure that this is the most recent so things may have changed since this page was last updated. I would check the current rulebook to make sure.
Also, what's the big difference between the SS and the basic setup? What makes it cost $200 more basically...

The SS has "damper" adjustment and possibly more aggressive spring rates, but don't quote me on the latter. I opted for the basics because I knew I'd never touch the adjustment knob once I installed them
