what else do i need for 4th gen JDM fogs?

so i bought some JDM fogs off ebay for $45 for just the foglights. they don't even have the black housing cover, but w/e.
i'm told that its absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to find the OEM foglight switch, so i got an idea (from someone on absolute prelude i think) to use another hazard button as the switch.
has anyone else done this? is it hard??

and also, where can i find/buy the wiring harness?? i tried passwordJDM but they don't have any.

you dont need a wiring harness... honda accessories are pre-wired.

yeah...basically take off your bumper, cut out the sections with the dotted line (it's got a dotted line on the back) and then screw in the foglights and plug them in to the clips that are stuck with blue tape to the bumper lens harness. Next you'll need to get a relay (just use the one from your foglights that you have now) and plug it into the relay harness under the area under the steering wheel. Then hook up the switch...there is a plug under the center console that you just plug the switch into and your good.
no wiring needed.

also, I was able to get a brand spankin new switch for $15 bucks from my good bud craig here...what a guy.

check this out its the honda brand writeup: http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/.../16810_01.html

also...be ready to pay a shitload for the bezels...they are rarely are sold on ebay by themselves.

so the relay and harness from my PIAA's are gonna plug right into the connector under the steering column? that seems too easy to be true.

i would go check right now, but its aboot -345 degrees outside

well guess what...you dont even need the harness

and guess what else...I've done it! and i had the same foglight set you do, and the relay plugged directly into the OEM harness under the steering column.

And yeah...I was VERY sceptical about the whole setup because it seemed way to easy and clean to actually work without issue...but you know what? Once I got the switch and plugged it in, both lights fired right up and that was with the bulbs they were shipped with! It's amazing how great OEM/JDM shit really is...just like with my JDM headlights-everything just works right the first time, with no fitament issues or anything.

From then on I promised that if I could upgrade with an OEM/JDM part then I would.

prelude dc5 is an unknown quantity at this point
the fourth gen preludes where the only honda car to come fully wired for fogs. its the easiest car to retro with stockers. its all plug and play but sadly it is the only one i have ever come across. working for honda i have looked up what you need on our interactive network and you need just the lamps, a switch and a relay.

sweet, i just tinkered around with it, and realized the foglight and relay part of the job is gonna be CAKE.
the only trouble spot will be the switch. i've had some bad experiences with electrical work (i.e. shorting out my entire car ) so i don't really feel like splicing those wires. would i be able to use a 5th gen fog switch for mine?
or does anyone else recommend another idea for a switch?

you could use the hazard switch...I accidentally hooked them up wrong when I installed my switch and I think they actually worked right. It does the same thing-turns the power on or off to whatever device it's hooked to, and like i said they plug right in. or you could get one off ebay...but i'm sure someone else on here may have a switch.

wtffffff

why aren't my fogs working?!!?!??

i plugged my hazard switch to the connector under the center console, hooked a relay up under the steering column, and ALMOST connected the foglights to the connectors on the bumper light harness. i wasn't able to get them to "click" together, despite my hardest attempts. i even used vasoline
but i figured they were connected tight enough so they would work

any ideas??

same shit happened to me, I think it's because over time the connectors shrink from not having anything plugged in. Makes sense right? So I had to push them so hard I thought they would break and also wasn't sure if it was even making a connection. But they worked fine so I guess it's all good. Maybe you should check your bulbs because they could possibly be burnt out from the previous owner.

also I guess you can't use the hazard switch by itself because it has to be wired differently in order to work. if you saw that writeup on H-T.com then you would see that inside the switch a few things need to be soldered together or something.
