THEY REPLACED ALL - OR DID THEY?
ahh, ahhh, ahh, now that is not fun at all. by the way, abs, when it works, gives a jerky sensation. it's very uncomfortable when you switch from non-abs car to abs one, it's like your brakes are not following your command. indeed it is, because abs will not permit your brakes to jam the rotor and losens brake pads as soon as your rotor slows down to a certain point. so, the question is - did they check/replace all of this:
ABS systems use a combination of electronic and hydraulic systems to modulate the brakes individually to prevent them from locking. Antilock systems basically consist of wheelspeed sensors, a hydraulic control unit (HCU), and an electronic control unit (ECU).
During braking the wheelspeed sensors measure the rotational speed of the wheels and forward this information to the ECU. If the ECU determines that one wheel is decelerating at a much greater rate than another (indicating that the brake is about to lock), the ECU directs solenoid valves in the HCU to open to release hydraulic pressure to the brake until the rotational speed of the errant wheel matches the others.
so, what about the ECU, HCU sensor and all the wiring that comes with it? honestly, find a good, reputable indpendent mechanic that did nothing but brakes for the last 30 yrs - and have it evaluated. lawsuit is good, if there's one alive left to do it. it's brakes, not a windshield wiper. be well!
