Yep, to my dismay, you are right. Just like the C5. I wonder if they are going to put real springs in the rear of the C6 Z06 other than the stock leaf springs.
It doesn't have a leaf spring suspension, it has a double wishbone suspension on all 4 corners. BIG difference. The composite single leaf spring you speak of saves weight, prevents sagging, lasts much much longer, and is positioned so it transfers weight from the road on to the frame better than the typical coilover setup. It's a simple and effective alternative to the typical rear coil spring setup.Trust me, this setup works very well for the vette. Chevy uses coil springs in their pos crapaliers and aveo's, and would not regulate their flagship car to leaf spring if it didn't work or serve a good purpose.

New rumor floating around is that there will be 2 versions of the z06.A 500hp z06, and a 550hp Z06-R. Only a rumor at this time, but something to think about.
Packing 500 horsepower with its 7.0-liter V-8, the high-powered Z06 Corvette will be introduced by Chevrolet early next year. Sources are speculating that Z06 coupe, shown here, will be introduced at the Los Angeles Auto Show in January, followed days later by the convertible introduction at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
Wider tires and Brembo brake calipers give the first clue to the true identity of this masked Corvette. Rumors of a removable hardtop option are also circulating. But we may have to wait till January to find out more

Well, apparantly, GM is going ape-shit over the pics so i'm guessing the pics are more than legit. I'm surprised the host of those pics hasn't been contacted or told to pull those pics yet.
Though spy shots of the Z06 version of the C6 Corvette don’t appear to reveal much, we can discern that engineer David Hill’s latest high-performance creation may come with a first-ever-for-Z06 removable hardtop. Reports of a possible air scoop at the leading edge of the hood, however, appear unfounded. The car also sports typical Z06 features, such as wider tires tucked behind flared front and rear fenders, and lighter-weight, two-piece 10-spoke wheels. We also note red Brembo brake calipers tucked behind the wheels. The 2006 model Z06 reportedly packs a 7.0-liter 500-hp V8, and debuts at the Detroit auto show in January.

Ahh finally, getting back to the days of big cube V8's in cars. :clap
Maybe Ford will grow a wild hair and bring back the SOHC 427. Wouldn't 650hp NA again be nice?
