(from Factory Five Racing Press Release) The idea for the GTM is simple. Design a modern supercar and price it where an ordinary guy can afford. The only catch is that you have to provide your own running gear (GM based) and you have to build it yourself.
After more than three years of engineering and development work, we are ready to introduce the world to our vision of what an American-designed Supercar should be. The GTM is an American V-8 powered, mid-engined car with a composite body shell and an aluminum and steel tube frame chassis. The car uses GM Performance engine and suspension parts with four-corner coil-over shocks, huge brakes and a Porsche 911 Transaxle.
In the Factory Five tradition, the car is first and foremost a high performance car. The GTM is light and aerodynamic, with excellent weight distribution and precise race-car handling/braking derived from the Chevrolet Corvette C-5.
The car is engineered to be built as a chassis kit by a person at home. More than ten years of manufacturing the best engineered, safest, best selling and easiest to build kits in the world has made us uniquely capable of this challenge.
Lastly, no matter how well engineered the car is, and how good it looks, in order to succeed we knew we would have to ensure the car had modern comfort and control. The GTM has a large and quiet cockpit, good visibility and modern temperature controls. Items like A/C, power windows, and complete interior make sure the car isn’t limited to race track duty.
From the first design sketch to the completed production car the team has kept faithful to its charter to deliver a new All-American Supercar design. The GTM is an all-new design for us. It is 100% American designed and proudly made in the USA.
We humbly present our vision of The American Supercar.

Damn, this thing is light. 2,250lbs. I like. It's supposed to be an affordable supercar, but you have to provide your own drivetrain and assembly kinda like their Cobra replica's for those familiar with them (that's what they're known for). The kit costs $19,900 :eek
Hit up their website for order info. Have a GM drivetrain, $20k, and a compatant builder (if you can't do it yourself) ready. You should be set to go from there .
technically you can put any engine you want in that since its not really limited to one engine. for 20g THATS A FREAKEN BARGIN!!! you can get a wrech mustang with a v8 for 3-4g 23-24g for a Elise with SUPER TORQUE!!! you can't get any cheaper then that.
it reminds me of a elise/supra/gt40...I LIKE!!! hmmmm 911 transaxle...so many possibilities.
[edit] nvm it needs a corvette donor not a mustang donor.
I've seen this before, it's simply amazing, especially for the money. If I remember correctly you can even have A/C if you want. It's such a great deal, i'm sure it'll cost a hell of a lot more then 20k once everything is said and done, but still worth every penny.

DING DING DING!!! This is exactly what I was thinking. And in all honesty, I'd be a little skeptical of how great of a vehicle you were actually getting. Not like this would be a daily driver or anything, but even still, I would personally put my wasted-investment-dollars into something else. Sure would be a fun ride though!

Even when all is said and done, i'm sure the price won't be half bad compared to other sport cars of similar performance. I'm sure it'd represnt a good value. Even cheaper if you can do the assembly yourself and there are people out there capable of that.

How much will it cost to build a GTM?
The price of the kit is not as important as the price of the completed vehicle. Our original target was that a guy should be able to build the GTM for less than $30,000. We think that is still achievable if a donor C5 is procured for less than current market value of $8,000-$10,000, and provided the person can do his/her own paintwork… but realistically we estimate that folks will spend between $35,000 and $40,000 to complete the car including Chevrolet parts, wheels/tires, paint and the Porsche transaxle.

Mods: Ask to many to bother listing....Plus theres not enough room
Its interesting but im still curious what frame it was built on if any..... You get everything but an engine an transmission..hmm supra motor lol ......anyway..............Interesting for sure....Not crazy about the rear end but the front is nice for sure
It looks like the kind of generic 90s sports cars that you see on bottles of Slick-50 or liquid wax at Autozone. That 2200 lbs better include the drivetrain. If not, then it's better just to get a used Z06.
