$100k+ for this car. i think it might be a little bit over priced. even if it comes with a v10 and 500hp.
if this car is meant to compete with the next NSX, then $100k is over the limit for a japanese car. i can say that $80k is more than reasonable for any "exotic" sports car not made in italy.

compete with the nsx....? an 05 STI can take an nsx why pay 100k to?
What Edmunds.com Says: Toyota will eschew all likeness to the Volta concept in the design of its next "super car."
What We Know: Contrary to rumors, Toyota's Supra replacement will in no way, shape or form, bear any resemblance to the Giugiaro-designed Volta concept which appeared in Geneva last March. Toyota does, however, plan on delivering a high-performance sports car along the lines of the departed Supra some time between the end of 2006 and 2007. This two-door, front-engine, rear-wheel-drive sport coupe might be built on an all-new platform, although it's expected that Lexus will not build its own variation. The car will probably be priced under $30,000 and some sort of prototype could very likely debut at the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show.

Engineers from Toyota Motor Co.p. visited Germany's famed Nurburgring racetrack last month to test a prototype sports car shrouded in mystery.
Spy shots of the session have provoked widespread speculation on the identity of the vehicle and Toyota's production plans.
Among the outrageous guesses are that the prototype is a mule hiding either a 500-horsepower V-10 engine or a high-performance hybrid powertrain.
Sources in Japan say it?s likely an early test bed for the next Supra, pulled from the U.S. market several years ago because of poor sales.
Toyota insiders say the reincarnated Supra should reach the market in 2006 as a 2007 model. The rear-wheel drive coupe, being targeted at the Nissan 350Z, will be powered by a twin-cam 3.5-liter V-6 and priced from well under $30,000.

if its going to be under WELL under 30K then I dont think its going to be a supra replacement, more along the lines of a celica and more competative towards an RX-8
Well if it is going to be that cheap, and it's going to use a 3.5 twin cam engine, wouldn't that be the new avalon engine? That's a good 280hp and like nissian's VQ can probably be tweaked some more to get near 300hp, which would put it in direct competition vs the 350z.
I hope they don't use the name supra because whatever incarnation they come up with it will never live up to people's expectations of a "supra" so anything would just be a dissapointment. If they just named it something different people won't have such high expectations of the car, and it won't have to live in the shadows of the mkiv supra. I hope it comes out soon, toyota is the only major auto company without a sports car

It just may be. The 300zx was a fairly expensive car, but its replace...the 350z is relatively affordable and can be had for under 30k.
So they could bring the Supra downmarket a bit. But i'd like for it to be just like the previous supra though and positioned to compete with the vehicles like the C6 vette, M3, etc... not mustang GT's, 350z, rx8's, etc.... That and it MUST have TT, if it doesn't, it's no supra in my book. It has to be just as good as the previous gen or it'll be a dissapointment.
